Got to Get Down to ‘Swingtown’

May 29, 2008 5:25 PM

SwingtownNext month CBS takes us to the time of love, marriage and making love with other married people in new series “Swingtown.”

It was a time before melons were the obvious innuendo and vintage porn mustaches were simply a popular expression of facial hair. Actually, I’m not really sure what time that was, since I was born in 1985, the magical year when Wham!’s “Careless Whisper” dominated the music charts.

However, the preview images and clips below suggest the 1970s were a very sexual time in America...

“Swingtown” takes viewers on a trip to the swinging ’70s, when married couples experimented with their sexuality with other people. From the videos, it seems to have involved a bunch of new friends gathering at a location to share drinks and revel in dance with others. Sounds like college, but with fewer wedding rings and less polyester!

The series follows three couples. The Millers (Jack Davenport and Molly Parker) just moved into the neighborhood where the Deckers (Grant Show and Lana Parrilla, pictured above) are quick to befriend them. The Millers’ old friends, the Thompsons (Josh Hopkins and Miriam Shor), come along for this sex ride.

How long until conservative media groups begin protesting this series? Or this post, for that matter?

“Swingtown” premieres June 5 at 10 p.m. on CBS.
