Live-Blogging the Sophomore NBC Panel
July 21, 2008 9:51 AM
BACK FOR SECONDS "Chuck" star Zachary Levi and creator Josh Schwartz discuss the show's "guest star crazy" second season.
We've got Josh Schwartz ("Chuck"), Oliver Goldstick ("Lipstick Jungle") and Rand Ravich ("Life"), plus stars of three NBC sophomore shows ... SECRETS WILL BE REVEALED.
9:55 a.m.: Mr. Goldstick: Weather makes it tougher to shoot in New York. "You make the best of it," he says.
9:58 a.m.: Could Zachary Levi's character be killed off? "Next year it will be called 'Morgan,'" says Mr. Schwartz.
9:59 a.m.: Donal Logue will bring a "brash" sensibility to "Life," says Mr. Ravich. And give Damian Lewis time to breathe.
10:01 a.m.: Hey guys, what did you do during the strike? Um, that was six months ago. Does anyone care? Just sayin'....
10:03 a.m.: Damian Lewis is "speaking American," as critic Rick Kushman puts it. He's right. OK, now he's back to British accent. Much better.
10:04 a.m.: Scoop! Rosie Perez is going to guest star on "Lipstick Jungle" next season.
10:05 a.m.: Valerie Harper is playing Damian Lewis' mom on "Life." I think. He may have been joking (Mary Tyler Moore is on "Lipstick Jungle").
10:06 a.m.: "We've gone guest star crazy," Mr. Schwartz says of "Chuck." I can't keep up with all the names he's throwing out. "The opening title sequence is 17 minutes long now," Mr. Schwartz adds.
10:09 a.m.: Mr. Schwartz: "The mythology is going to deepen" on "Chuck" this year.
10:12 a.m.: Mr. Schwartz: "Kids in college don't watch on television anymore. They only bring laptops."
10:13 a.m.: Zach Levi: "Chuck's new cover job will be in an advertising agency where they all wear cool '60s clothes and smoke cigarettes."
10:14 a.m.: Mr. Schwartz on "Gossip Girl" vs. "Chuck" (they both air Mondays at 8): "I begged everyone not to let that happen."
10:14 a.m.: Mr. Levi: "People who watch 'Gossip Girl' will watch 'Gossip Girl.' And people who watch 'Chuck' will leave 'Chuck' to watch 'Gossip Girl.'"
10:15 a.m.: Scoop! Ben Savage also on "Chuck"!
10:18 a.m.: Brooke Shields says the women on "Lipstick" don't have to be "bitchy." "We're not trying to be a stereotype," she says.
10:20 a.m.: More romance on "Chuck" says Mr. Schwartz. Lady behind me is clapping and hooting. Please stop, lady behind me.
10:21 a.m.: All done.
