NBC Taps Cortese for ‘My Dad’

The bandana is back.
Dan Cortese—best known from MTV Sports, “Melrose Place,” “Veronica’s Closet” and, now and forever, a series of 1990s Burger King commercials—is returning to prime time.
NBC has tapped the actor as host of its upcoming competition reality series “My Dad Is Better Than Your Dad.” The network notes that Cortese is a father and football coach, and therefore a perfect host for the show.
“My Dad,” from Mark Burnett Productions and Reveille, features fathers and their kids teaming up to complete stunt-driven challenges. Given that the similarly physically competitive “American Gladiators” is heating up NBC’s ratings, the network likely hopes to funnel some “Gladiator” interest into the new show.
The network is expected to announce a “My Dad” premiere date next week.

this will be a great series! - unfortunately, we didnt learn of the auditions in time but if the series gets picked up - we will definitely try to audition. Our family is small so we make every effort to have strong bonds. My grand-daughter (10) & her dad are healthy competitors who have a great sense of humor in everything they do together. We all look forward to watching the show as a family - & hopefully you will be seeing US soon.

My Son would be great for this show. He is in the army reserves and has been to Iraq. He has 4 children ages 2-17yrs. 3 boys and 1 girl. He played football in high school and is very competitive. We look forward to watching your show and hope to hear from you soon.

I would love to sign up my son and xhusband for this they would be great My son is almsot 12 and dad 43 but two of the cutest people you would every see and all the young girls would go crazy over my son.You think jack and cody are cute you havent seen my son. They look exactly alike and are very competitive and I am sure they would be a hoot on the show. Not only are the a pair of strentgh they are just alike and would really be exciting to watch. As everyone else up here, I would also like to know about tryouts. I feel that my husband and his son would be very tough competitors on the show. They are both extremely athletic and crazy in every sense of the word. Please let us know how to audition, they will not leave you disappointed.

My husband, a football coach of 10 years, and 9 year old son are watching your premier now bragging that there's no way they could lose this game. I would LOVE to see them prove it. Our 7 year old daughter and 6 year old son seem to think, with their smartest/strongest dad, they could win it as well. What is the qualifying process?

This show was awesome!!! My whole family enjoyed it. Of course my eight year old son and husband think they would rule on the show!! It would be so amazing if they got the chance. Please explain the application process. It would be fun to surprise them.

We live in Los Angeles and would like to know when the next dates are for auditions for the show. The NBC.com website does not have any information available. I know the first round of auditions took place in Nov. 2007 in Los Angeles, San Diego, and San Francisco. My husband and 8 yr old son would be perfect for the show. My husband and daughter want to be on this show. My daughter is 8 and very dramatic and outgoing. Her dad owns his own company and played football in high school. My daughter is an extremetly competitive child she loves good clean competition. She has raced mini-quads for two years now and has made good friends with all of her competitors and would just love to compete on this show with her dad since it is from him that she gets her athletic side. She literally thinks that there is NOTHING that her dad can't do. Please let me know how to audition for this -- the requirements involved, etc. Look forward to hearing from you.

We loved the premier!!! My dad would be perfect for this show with my little sister. This is the ONLY game show my dad has watched, where he hasn't found a million and one things wrong with it. This is Taylor Kokoska (the 11 year old doughter) and my dad is Scott Kokoska (38 years old)we are a great team EXSTREMLLY compettive and would love to be on the show my dad is better then your dad.We love the show and do lots of activeitys like basketball, baseball, and lots of cool things. My dad coachs my teams baseball with the boys and me and me and my daddy work out 2 times a week. Why should we be on my dad is better then your dad? Cause were fun, crazy & cute.
