First Day on the Set

August 17, 2007 1:33 PM

My family wanted to throw a going away party just before I was leaving to start my new job in the Big Apple, but I really didn't want all the fuss. In the end though, I must confess I was happy they talked me into a having a celebration. The party was held the night before I left for New York to begin taping, and with over 100 people lifting their champagne glasses in my honor, I have to admit I was really touched.

I slept surprisingly well that last night before my "excellent adventure." I still live primarily in Miami and the commute to New York for taping only takes a few hours. The plane ride that first time, though, was a blur. I couldn't wait to tackle all the challenges I was about to face. A new life in a fabulous town—in fact (as Mama Rose belts out in "Gypsy"):

"Everything's Coming Up Roses!"

But then certain details began to creep into my consciousness. During the ride to my new second home, I panicked. What if I didn't like the apartment Sony chose? I breathed deeply, promised to keep an open mind and swore not to respond like a spoiled child. My momentary hysterics were not justified; the neighborhood was wonderful and the apartment was terrific. (O.K., so I did run out and buy fresh sheets and softer towels. But that's O.K. I can be responsible for my own thread count.)

The driver waited for me to put my luggage away and then take me to Sony's offices for a meeting. We were running a bit early, so what would you do? I had him drop me off at Bergdorf Goodman, where they were having a fabulous sale. I broke my own record for getting to a store upon landing in NYC. Sale, after all, is one of my favorite 4-letter words!!

After my meetings on Friday, Sony's publicist asked me if I wanted to be a guest commentator on CNN Headline News. Wow. My first day! That was daunting but exciting. Going into the studio I was a bit nervous, especially when I saw it was just me and a TV screen in the room. I needed some practice to get used to having a conversation on live TV with a box. Still, although I felt awkward at first, when the camera was on, so was I.

They told me to be ready for pampering the next day. Now, I ask you, who wouldn't love a day of beauty and shopping (especially when you don't have to pay for a thing). It was a wonderful day. "I feel pretty....Oh so pretty...and witty...and ...." Did they write that with me in mind?

Sunday was Father's Day and I was a bit out of sorts not being with my father. What I needed was a quick pick-me-up. Nothing does that for me like Broadway. Let's go see a show! I got tickets to "Legally Blonde," which was a fun show. What a perfect way to begin the best week of my life.

When I saw my set for the first time I choked up. It was like when you see the person you knew you would spend the rest of your life with. It felt perfect. I only wish Scott could have shared this moment with me. I knew I would feel like a million bucks when he saw the set firsthand. Plus the fact that he was coming to NY in a few days gave me some solace.

There is a lot of preparation that goes on before I take the bench. I get briefed by my lawyer and then by the producers. Jackie has the difficult job of putting on my make-up and fixing my hair ("I'm pretty, Mama Rose!") and Latoya picks out the outfits for each day of taping. The 3 of us bonded instantly.

I was also excited to be working with a new bailiff, Tawya Young. I call her my TV Wife. How they managed to find a Court Officer with the same last name, I'll never know. We hit it off immediately. She is as irreverent as I am and we both felt the chemistry right away. She is the best.

What a team. What a dream. I am so fortunate.

Kristi:

I am so happy for you! Jake showed me the show website the other day and...wow! It's just amazing. If you are in New York, we MUST get together.

Please email me so we can get in touch. We're planning our wedding for next year and I'm trying to compile a contact list. It wouldn't be complete without you and Scott. That and I'm forever indecisive about a wedding dress. :)

Michele:

Dear Judge Young,

It has been an absolute pleasure watching your show. You adjudicate with style and i see a consistent fairness in you that seems to be missing on most of these court television shows. However, i watched today (17 Sept)and unfortunately, you made a mistake in your decision. The case had to do with breast pump rental. The plaintiff clearly stated the rental period went from the 11th to the 11th of the month. The pump was returned on 9 February (2 days before February rental would have begun) and yet, you still charged the defendant for February. It was very clearly an error, and i truly hope that someone besides me caught it.

i wish you much luck with your show...

Respectfully,
michele einhorn

Byron:

I'm truly sorry, this show is horrible. The pace is far to slow, David Young seems to be not too bright and educated in several ways. He beats pointless facts to death and then tries to quip about it. His "bailiff" is about as entertaining as David Young. This is a pale attempt at an imitation of the two major court shows, Judge Judy and The Peoples Court. Sorry, but the facts are the facts. Try not to be so intent on the minor details, those which have no bearing on the suit at all.

Johaira :

Dear Judge,

you are simply fantastic....... please be always true to your self and never change. You presided over my little brother's case last year in miami and it is truly amazing how many lives you touch on a daily basis and how much you care. you are a fair judge, I wish you great success on your new show.

Nancy:

I AM SORRY, BUT THE WOMAN WHO IS THE COURT OFFICER FOR THE JUDGE NEEDS TO ACT PERFESSIONAL. SHE TOTALLY DISRESPECTS THE COURT ON HER ACTIONS. SHE IS NOT THERE TO TRY AND BE A MODEL, FLIPPING HER HAIR HERE AND THERE, GIVING OFF BODY LANGUAGE THAT ONLY THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE NO CLASS DO. SHE DOES HER HMM HMMS, WHERE I CAN NOT BELEIVE THAT THE CAMERA CAPTURES, (ALSO CAPTURES ALL THE OTHER DISRESPECTFUL THINGS), AND THEN THE NETWORK AIRS THEM. SHE NEEDS TO ACT LIKE A COURT OFFICER, NOT A HUSSY SO TO SAY, OR A WOMAN OUT TO FLAUNT HER STUFF, WHICH IS FINE IF IT WAS NOT IN A COURT ROOM. WHEN DID EVERYONE IN THE TV BUSINESS LOSS RESPECT FOR OUT JUDICAL SYSTEM. YOU WOULD NOT SEE THIS GOING ON IN A REAL COURT ROOM, SO WHY A TV COURT ROOM. IN GOD WE TRUST, AND GOD IS BEING DISRESPECTED ALSO, AS WELL AS THE CITIZENS. IF WE ACTED LIKE THAT WE WOULD BE IN CONTEMPT OF COURT. SHE SEEMS NICE, BUT SHE NEED TO LOSE THE BODY LANGUAGE ATTITUDE.

Debbie S:

Judge Young,
I have been watching your show since it began and I am totally hooked! I now have to tape it when I work so that I won't miss your witty comments. You are a hoot and I really enjoy your comments at the end of your verdicts. You are a great mixture of judicial knowledge and sensitivity. Keep up the good work and much sucess in this tv adventure!

A Loyal Fan,
Debbie Stuckey

Marilyn Frank:

OMG OMG OMG
I can't believe it..... No one told me you had a show...I so missed going down to your courtroom and sitting in the peanut gallery with my friend and watching you there.... Well, it's about time...I can't think of anyone who deserves a show more than you do... You're Great. Best judge on TV! Although I really miss you in CC24 :( I'm gonna tape all your shows...I feel terrible that I've already missed a few.... Oh well, I'm not going to miss anymore.

Congrats !!!!! Congrats!!!!!

PS We miss you in Miami Beach

David Young:

Thank you all for those nice comments. Marilyn, I am glad you found the show. Miami Beach was great training for the show--don't you think?! Debbie, I am so happy that you are hooked on the show. Johaira, your good wishes mean a great deal.
Michelle, big hug of thanks. Byron, give the show a shot and I am hopeful you will be a fan :). Nancy, thank you for your candid opinion. I respect your thoughts--thank you for them.

David Young:

How could I not mention my soon to be niece Kristi. Thank you my dear for those awesome comments. Hope to see you soon. Love, Uncle David

Dennis Chilton:

Yes some people come to this county with just
.50 cents. But I had a friend from Vietnam that
said, they (the government) gave him ten thousand
dollars. I didn't believe it and he showed me
his bank account.
When people have a job they think everyone should
have one. But the truth is there isn't that many
jobs. Here in Mansfield they don't even have a
barber shop.
Reagan said, grow strawberrys but they would kick
us out of housing. Hello!

David Young Rocks!!! Finally a Gay Judge is on TV. He is an excellent judge. He can tell a stupid person when he sees one. I hope his show does great!

Chris Spencer:

You and your court officer SUCK. You ridicule peoples opinion and you force them to think your way on the verdict. Examples of this are on the cases of 118 and 9. he warned about the dog in one episode and he is entitled to think being gay is wrong and immoral(which it is)

David Young:

David, Thank you for the kind comments. They are very much appreciated.

ROB:

LATOYA WILL YOU MARRY ME? SHE IS HOT! I LIKE HER ATTITUDE. A BEAUTIFUL WOMAN IN UNIFORM. THE HOTTEST WOMAN IN COURT TV. OH, JUDGE DAVIDS A GOOD JUDGE. SURE HOPE HE KEEPS LATOYA.

ROB :

I JUST FOUND TAWYA'S BIO ON JUDGE DAVIDS WEB SITE. NOT ONLY IS SHE HOT, SHE HAS BRAINS. I KNEW THERE WAS SOMETHING SPECIAL. NOW THAT I KNOW YOUR REAL NAME, TAWYA I REPEAT WILL YOU MARRY ME?

Tim:

This show is a Joke! It is all acting and BAD ACTING. I watch it because Jerry Springer got boring. I am cool witha Gay judge, but not with the bailif and fake plaintifs. If you really think this is real I feel for ya!

David Young:

Tim, glad you are cool with the me! Hate to burst your bubble, but the cases and litigants are real. Promise. Tawya is so awesome, give her a chance. If you have any questions, you can reach me on myspace under JudgeDavidYoung. Have a great holiday season. My best, David

Alex:

Judge Young’s show is the worst show I have seen on television so far. I hope the network realizes it soon and puts better programming on until then I will skip that time slot.

Art Bloom:

I had a TV accident today and found Judge David Young. He is a breadth of fresh air. A Judge who actually cares. Alex, you have no taste man if you think the show sucks. It is true that he is not for those who at your age still loves to watch cartoons and read comic books.

Flame:

You show is a ridicule to the REAL court system. Your decision this morning 12/19/07 the case of the Husband & Wife. The soon to be ex-husband suing for lost of business. I was in the audience and its too bad but you did an injustice to everyone who is being harassed by myspace stakers. People like this man's soon to be ex-wife is a perfect example of how people are using the internet via myspace to harass people they don't like, or has a problem with. This man and his fiance look like respectable people. He had all his evidence and yet you agreed that he is dysfunctional. How can a judge make a call like that? R there any records to show that he has been on medication, hospitalized and more importantly he is in YOUR court room suing for lost of business because of this woman. NOW she claims she didn't recd child support, ONE might wonder why becuase she is interfering with his potential earnings. HOW can u make a judgment based on her belief and ur belief. IN a court of law we have to show invidence. If every judge goes around doing what u r doing where will we all end up?

Chuck:

your show today was horrible. The first case you did and injustine to the soon to be ex husband. U SUCK as a judge.

Why did you keep getting a phone call while in the middle of the taping? was that to tell you that you were doing something wrong? I wonder becuase us were close to making a decision For the Plainiff and then you got a call and changed ur discion.

Judge Joe Brown and them other TV show are better. U won't last long.

Carla:

Right on Judge David. I too was in the audience today and you were so right. Chuck and Flash are jerks (I know who they are). If you don't like him, then DON'T come back to the tapings. You will come back because you really do like the show. Momma knows

Valerie Cannata:

I, too, was in the audience for the myspace ex battle. Flame or Flash or whatever your name is, and Chuck -- you might be a little more credible if you were literate. In any case, remember that Judge Young must follow the law, which he did. The case was about LIBEL and as he explained, in order for a statement to be libel, it must be PROVEN to be untrue, which it wasn't. Also, there must be damage. There wasn't. The letters from so-called clients looked like he printed them up himself. Also, please tell me how in the world anybody looking at the wife's page would even connect that to the husband's BUSINESS name? She never said a name in her posting and the husband used a business name. It was completely farfetched to believe his client found his ex-wife's page in the first place, and then to connect it to his business name is ridiculous.

Read the law, gentlemen, and don't react with emotion. Did you mean cyper STALKERS? What is a cyber staker???? The judgment was absolutely correct according to the law.

Carla:

Umm Bop, Flash and Chuck--you sure have a lot of aliases.

Flame:

Valerie if you know anything you would know that the Ex in the myspace case did say that he has a company website. When you go to his company name, u can get access to his myspace. That was how his client got hold of this information by clicking on his myspace and his wife's (becuase she was his extended friend). So if you were listening carefully you would have recognized this fact. Judge Young did not do the DUE PROCESS that he was suppose to do. And why didn't he question the Fiance? He should have quiz her more, i would have love to hear what she had to say.

Ur show suck! And Judge Young is an entertainer. He needs to remember THE LAW. He is playing with people and their emotions. Judge Young clearly said in court that she is lying. A matter of fact he said it twice. So why was the wife not liable? She made the ex lost business. The same business that pays her alimony and child support.

This wife clearly took U all for fools. I remembered how she look so i went to myspace and looked at every face on the myspace. (Hey i got the time okay.) I found her...AND guess WHAT she still have comments up there about her soone to be EX. "Indra is asking her EX feeling like an ASS yet?"

The other thing is what proof did YOUNG had that her soon to husband is dysfunctional. ALL this woman had was HER WORD...LIES. WHERE IS THE EVIDENCE?????

I think that YOUNG did not want to pay this man for what he was suing for; so he deliberately went against the defendant.

YOUR SHOW suck. GET REAL and stop messing with PEOPLE. These are serious cases with serious consequences.

AN VALERIE you are the illiterate one. To show cause of being liable one has to show prove and yes to show that it is not true. Where was her proof? GO Back to school, valerie.

This case was about "LIABLE" - Why was YOUNG discussing child support. YOUNG and his staff should spend more time understanding the case rather than performing for TV....you are messing with peoples lives here. I am sure that the soon to be ex and his wife are already in court for child support. This case was not about child support.

This case was about being held liable for what ones say on myspace...which NOW YOUNG gave free acccess to all who may watch the show. Anyone can say anything and get away with it.

I understand its a TV show but at the end of it all its suppose to be a real courtroom. If you look at the other shows like Joe Brown, and Judge Judy they all take time to understand the case. They stick to the case not venture off to something else and they review the evidence.

IT Was an unfair ruling. YOUNG knows this becuase he got a call right when he was going to make the decision for the Defendant (the soon to be ex husband).

I will not be attending any more taping and will tell everyone how i feel about the show. Your show make a mokery out of the Court System that our forefather build centuries ago. The Law was put in place for a reason...it wasn't build to make MOKERY of.

Valerie Cannata:

think about hiring a proofreader, Flame. in addition to the multiple mistakes, too many to even count, the case was about LIBEL, not liable. spend more time in school and less on myspace and maybe your life will consist of more than blogging

Carla:

Flame, I'm not sorry you lost your case. You are a fraud and obviously everything your wife said about you was true--you just proved it. But since this is the holiday season, I want to wish you a blessed Christmas. Peace to you my dear.

David Young:

I hope everyone has a wonderfully meaningful holiday season. May 2008 bring you health and happiness. My best, David

Steph:

Personally, I've never sat through a taping and just recently saw my first episode of the show on Dec 26th while visiting my parents. I have been watching ever since while vacationing and will hate to miss the show when I go back to work. In my opinion the show is right up there with Judge Judy...which is a HUGE compliment!

Judge David...I didn't know what to expect from the show but I've gotta tell you that you are truly awesome. Sure you're entertaining (its why we watch TV duh!) but very intelligent and down to earth.

LOVE YA!

David Young:

Steph, I am glad you discovered me while visiting your parents. What a good daughter! :) Thank you for those kind words. If you are on myspace, then add me as a friend (I do personally answer all messages. It's JudgeDavidYoung. Have a happy and healthy 2008! Lov ys 2! Big Hugs! David

Marlene:

Judge David ... I LOVE your show. I use to be hooked on another court show but after seeing yours I haven't been back to the other. You are honest, fair and a hoot to boot! :)

Best of luck to you!

David Young:

Marlene, thank you for watching! I love being loved. Big Hugs!!!!!

Lesley Sweney:

Judge David
We have only recently started to watch your show. We are from the UK but have a holiday home in Delray Bch Fl so only now have had the opportunity of viewing.
We don't have anything like this in the UK so it's a real eye-opener for us. We really like your style and, whilst you are wonderfully entertaining, you are still a worthy and intelligent upholder of the law.
Congratulations! Long may you sit on the bench!

Denise:

I agree with Byron. This show IS horrible. I don't want to be mean either, but it's just too much. Way to flamboyant for me. It's like a little kids good and evil show. When I ever saw those gay guys on the show, well that did it for me. WAY TO MUCH DRAMA if you get my drift. I'm sure david brown is a very nice person. He just doesn't do it for me as a judge. SORRY. I watch all the court shows and this one is defitnitly the WORST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I stopped watching. Couldn't take anymore of the drama??

Lynze:

If Judge David brown doesn't do it for you, perhaps, Judge Joe Young will? hmmmm

David Young:

Lesley, I am so glad you like the show. I too, wish it were shown in the UK. Hopefully you are enjoying yourself in Delray. And thanks again Lynze for the support!

Denise, I am sorry you do not like my show. As my mother always told me--that's why Baskin-Robbins
has so many flavors.Maybe one day you will realize that the world is made up of many flavors, all of which are to be enjoyed. And by the way, my last name is Young.

marlene:

Just goes to show that the recent people that have posted comments haven't really watched the show ... they can't even get his first name right.

So just stop watching if that's how you feel... better yet, I encourage you to continue watching so you'll see the real true Judge David Young, that's what I did!!

There's plenty of us out there that will support Judge David Young to keep him on air... he's awesome and I look forward to watching EVERY day!! I could care less of his lifestyle!! He's a FAIR and entertaining judge!!

marlene:

I reread my post ... I should've said they can't get his LAST name right, not last name ...

marlene:

I really wish this forum had an EDIT feature!!

I reread my post... I should've said they can't get his FIRST name right, not last name ...

Lynze:

For the record... My comment was a sarcastic one... for those of you with a sense of humor. I know full well his last name. Perhaps, so did Denise, and just chose not to come back and repost 3 times to get it right? Something to think about..?

David Young:

Marlene, you are wonderful (as are you Lynze). Thanks ladies your friendship and viewership means so much! David

Tina:

Just wanted to say that I LOVE LOVE LOVE the show! DO you have a MySpace page??

David Young:

Thanks Tina. I do have a myspace page. It's JudgeDavidYoung. Looking forward to being friends.

Judge David,

I’m really stumped here, I don’t know which is more entertaining your show or these post. But I can tell you for sure, it all has got me....

Laughing out Loud!

David Young:

I know Mary Ann, it's crazy. I can't believe that so many people voice their opinion about myshow on this blog. I think it's great! Thank you for being a fan!!! Hugs!

Glen Thomas:

This is the worst show that FOX has ever shown. I don't think the so-called Judge Young David understands that it has nothing to do with his being gay, it is about the fact that everyone liked the programming that was on before they gave him the spot.

He is not entertaining, his jokes are not funny, and his wind-up at the end of the show is kind of a whiney like "I did this because I felt it was only fair." He could also do with some personality lessons. But then what do I know? I only watched the show twice, when it comes on now I turn the channel as fast as physically possible.

And of course this poor show will probably continue to take up air-time for a few months, until Fox (and Sony) can find a way to gracefully bow out. His jokes about being gay are distasteful, even to the gay community. I saw a blog at another site that said "I am gay, and he makes me feel like committing a hate crime!" I am not sure what that means, but it is certainly a thumbs down.

It is amazing that one cannot even comment anymore on supposed entertainment that you do not like. Young David says "my Mom says the world is made of many flavors", well if we do not like your flavor, do we still have to eat it? I am sure he would counter with "some people like it." We will see if there is enough, Baskin-Robbins might have a flavor of the week, but it is often not seen again.

I see that Young David only replies to the 25% favorable posts in this forum. And if he succeeds despite his prejudice, all the more power to him. But if he fears failure, here is my advice. Stop with the gay references, no judge straight or gay in the real world uses his/her sexual preferences in deciding the law.

I know...I know...you are well-versed in women's clothing, you go out on Saturday nights and take the name of a woman. But please, keep it to yourself!

In a time when everyone has the right to express their opinions openly, and live their life's as they choose, your show provides the majority of people a great opportunity to choose thumbs down without fear of being labeled prejudiced.

David Young:

Glen, I am truly sorry that you don't like my show. Do me a favor, don't watch it for the rest of this season. HOWEVER, do watch it beginning in September when the new shows are out. There will be many substantial changes. I think you will like it. See, I do answer emails from people who do not like the show! My skin is thick. Thanks for writing. David

Jena Simons:

Glen, are you kidding me? For you to write that whole long comment shows me that, like so many of us, you really like Judge David. What's really going on here? I will tell you sister. That's right..you are dealing with your own sexual orientation issues. Judge David is the best Judge show on the air--period. He is funny. He is compassionate. He is real--UNLIKE YOU! Keep watching him--I know you will.

Ayesha Ozturk:

We attented one of your show in April 2008. It was so fun... I need to ask you something via your myspace.. I had sent a friend request. I cannot email you unless we are friends. Pls look into that... Peace

cristine:

I love the show tape it on my dvr so I can fast forward the commercials so its not taking away from the show. It is great we do live in a society where a large portion of people do not base judgements on other peoples lifestyle but on the person themselves and their actions and that is the way it should be. You seem like a very caring and compassionate person and that's why people watch your show. I just want to wish you the best of luck and I am happy you are a success you deserve it. For the people who don't like the show they are probably the small percentage of people who judge people based on anything and everything and will not like much in life.

Mary Ann Sawant:

"This is the worst show that FOX has ever shown"
Glen...If you are going to critize, at least get your facts right.

Judge David is not on Fox! David is Sony pictures, which is on channel 38 UPN...network
universial pictures network...

Judge Alex is on Fox. Channel 25....

And furthermore this statement of yours is also false which shows you don't really watch the show to learn anything about Judge David..
Your quote...."I know...you are well-versed in women's clothing, you go out on Saturday nights and take the name of a woman. But please, keep it to yourself"

Glen, are you so wrong about Judge David in this attack. You are doing nothing more but generalizing the fact of the man being gay.

Who gives a crap anymore about one's sexual orientation. In this day and age, it's a dead beat issue. Let's stop it! Get behind the person and understand a bit deeper what, and who JD really is.

David Young:

Thank you Ayesha,Christine and Mary Ann for your wonderfully warm comments. Don't know if you have heard, but I was nominated for an Emmy! In my first year no less. What an honor. Thank you all for making this happen. This past year has been an incredible learning experience. I am in your debt. With gratitude, David

Frank:

Hey Judge Young, thanks for helping with my case. It wasn't easy getting through all of that. This was very real for me and tough to do when I filed suit against a guy who used to be someone I considered a friend until he became very dishonest and took advantage of my good heart. I really didn't want to go to court, but I felt Judge Young would be understanding and there was little choice left, which was indeed the case. It's nice to see the show nominated for an Emmy, and it's not easy dealing with a real-life case in front of so many people on television. I feel Judge Young is honest and fair and will be reasonable with you if you tell the truth.

Karen:

Dear Judge Young,

I DO find your show very entertaining and the fact that you allow people a chance to speak and air very refreshing. You seem most open minded and very kind and sensitive and you ARE appreciate.

I have to say though that the way your bailiff behaves with the dirty looks is VERY unprofessional. I don't mean to put her down in anyway. Not on a personal level, in any event. But the looks she gives to people are actually quite like a caricature in nature. VERY dramatic and VERY unprofessional.

Perhaps she's been told to do that but if I were in your court.... YOU are the judge... NOT the bailiff and that is not the impression given.

If you review your shows, you'll notice that your litigants stare right straight ahead. It's probably because they would be VERY put off by all of her dirty looks.

Why does she do that? Other court shows have very gracious bailiffs. I personally don't think it's at ALL appealing and while I put you on my TiVo to record every day, I just deleted it as it seems to have become the "What Dirty Look Is The Bailiff Going To Give Today" show rather than the "Judge David Young" show.

It's just my opion. Again, I respect YOU very much and find you refreshing. But those looks from that bailiff have taken me off the "list".

Wishing you well!

Eric Miller:

I'm not trying to be funny here, but I can't watch the show because of the bailiff. It is SO annoying watching her role her eyes, work her neck and try to be outrageous just to be noticed.
Also, Judge, While I don't support the homosexual lifestyle, I am respectful of others personal beliefs. In my own opinion, I think it's sad that we are worried about putting everything out there for people. Gay or straight, who cares? Why do we worry about labeling something that involves a private action that takes up comparatively such a small part of our lives.
Everyone is so interested in screaming "I'm gay!" or "I'm straight!" Frankly, I don't care what someone else is doing in their sex life, and if they are so obsessed with talking about it, they have bigger issues than their sexual preference.
That being said Judge, I just wish you wouldn't wear the broach.....it's freaky!
Anyway, replace the bailiff. She DOES remind me of a "Jerry Springer" type, but maybe that's what you guys are going for?

Karen:

ERIC MILLER: I CONCUR!!!

Mary Ann Sawant:

JD. There is nothing wrong what so-ever about your Bailiff. Her expressions are amusing. And she is very professional. I would not be surprised if half of these people never stepped into a real court room. If you want drama and really bad looks, attend as a sit-in at your local court house.

In the real world no Judge will give the same equal consideration to defendants. In the real world anything can be considered in contempt of court. And in the real world Judge Young would have the right to jail a plaintiff or defendant for lying to the court or using bad language , or speaking at one's whim. I find there are considerable lies and they get away with it because it's just a show. In real life, don't even think of it.

Lynze:

Okay! I HAVE to step in. Maybe comments about Tawya should be left on a page where she has the ability to defend herself. Not that she would justify such comments with a response, she's far too classy. ;) Just because she has an attitude ( not necessarily a BAD attitude, ok let's face it, she's a little "spicy ;) Does not give any reason to stereotype her into the "jerry springer" type. The show would not be the same without her. WE love YOU Tawya. Keep doing what you're doing girl!

David Young:

Eric, thank you for your comments. First, the 'broach' is a penguin that I have been wearing for years. I am an animal lover and have no plans to remove it. I agree that it should make no difference what one's sexual orientation is (it's not a preference), but you and I both know that it is just not the case. Hopefully, people will view me and my show in a positive light and one day it won't make a difference if you are gay or straight. You seem to be a head of your time (I appreciate that). Tawya is wonderful. Keep watching and I am sure you will agree.

Mary Ann and Lynze--WIll convey your thoughts to Tawya-- Big Hugs!!

Karen:

Dear Judge Young,

I certainly hope my critique' about your baliff weren't taken by you in the wrong light OR by her on any personal level in the wrong light.

TRUE... she is entertaining, but I have to stand by my position that the looks she gives would definitely put me off. I'd tend not to take things very seriously if I were either plaintiff or defendant because of it.

We all have different ideas, likes/dislikes, etc. and are all entitled to our opinions and thoughts (right? I hope so! LOL!).

I think you are very refreshing and there are only three judges on TV that I really bother watching... you are one of them. I have to admit though, when she goes overboard with those persecutory glances I usually turn it off.

I'm not attacking her. Some people in here seem to think that just because some of us make our thoughts known that she needs to have a site to defend herself on.

I don't think this is exactly a case of enacting the Sixth Amendment right to "Notice of Accusation" and "Right to Confrontation".

She's just doing what she's supposed to be doing. I've no doubt. I just happen to find some of the baliffs on other shows to be a bit more entertaining and much less judgemental is all.

BTW... I love your little penguin! I think it's darling.

I have a Maltese dog (she's quite a famous little one at that and soon to be much MORE famous as I'm planning a product line around her that will be lead free, poison free, and made in U.S. with pure components... I'm going to need a darn good attorney to pull that one off when making claims of that nature). But anyway, I always wear a little Maltese and the bow that one commonly sees for breast cancer, aids, etc. I wear mine for the abused and helpless little critters of the world that "have no voice and have no choice".

You're cool in my book, Judge Young. I just wanted to make sure my post didn't rub the wrong way.

Hugz, Karen & My Lil' Maltese (you'd know her if I mentioned her name, I'd bet... but won't do it in a public forum).

David Young:

Karen, how could I ever be upset at a fellow animal lover. I thank you very much for being a fan. As for constructive criticism--go for it. It is appreciated! Hugs, David

Karen >^*v*^<:

Thank you Judge David!

Frankly, I think your baliff's cuter than a bug! It's just when she gets exagerrated it irritates me. I must be a real grump! LOL!

I bet she's quite quick of wit and could pull off her own T.V. commentary show like Jon Stewart or the likes thereof.

OOOPS! Don't want to give any ideas! Though I'd be perched in front of the T.V. watching her show.

And BTW, yes, I'm an animal lover that probably goes overboard in my love for them. In my home my little Maltese (carnivore) gets the meat and chicken while I get stuck with the rice and vegetables! She's my only "child", she comes first even if I wasn't an extreme animal lover!

Jerkin Jack Blast:

I just had to do it! I had to pull down my pants while watching this show.
