'Getting a Show' aka 'Hello Dolly'
August 5, 2007 12:42 AM
I am still pinching myself to make sure this is happening.
My whole world changed when I got a random e-mail from Sony asking me if I would be interested in talking to them about a doing a television show. A million questions raced through my mind! They are kidding, right? Could I really get my own court show? My life partner, Scott Bernstein, is always the voice of reason. He finally got me to snap out of it with a simple question: Why I hadn?t called Sony back already? What did I have to lose?
The next few weeks were a blur of calls, flights, and meetings where I met the fabulous Sony development team. I shot a pilot. The adrenaline was pumping as I walked onto a stage for the first time, but once I took my place on the bench, I felt like I was home. After all, I had been doing this for the past fourteen years in Miami. As a Circuit Court Judge for Miami Dade County, you don't get a second take, and you can never find a hair and make-up artist or a craft services table when you need one. Walking onto the set with the lights, cameras, and crew, I just focused on the case at hand. In the back of my mind, I was hearing the lyrics from GYPSY:
Someone tell me, when is it my turn? Don't I get a dream for myself??? This was my dream! This was my turn.
Being an elected judge, and really being involved in politics my whole life (Scott swears I ran for president of my "Mommy and Me" class), I can pretty much talk to anyone. At NATPE, Sony offered to coach me for the big schmooze, but I just smiled and nodded and thought to myself, "Wait 'til they see what I can do!" My new Sony family didn't truly grasp just how much I enjoy people until I hit the NATPE floor. One of the big shots told me after the conference that he had never seen anyone work a room as well as Donny Osmond, but that I gave Donny a good run for his money. I've always liked that Donny Osmond but that's a story for another time!

I think Judge Young will provide a fresh perspective to the TV court room. If you have ever watched any of his tapes from real court in Miami you will see that he possesses candor, intellect and emotion. He says the things we would all like to say if we had a robe and gavel. I can hardly wait to watch.

"Justice with a Snap" - It means so much to me to see that on TV and have it not be a skit on a comedy sketch show. Best of Luck!!

no offense, but is judge young gay?
Posted by Anonymous | September 10, 2007 6:21 PM
In answer to one of the questions - yes, he's gay and apparently, proud of it. What bothers me is that he thinks he's funny - he's not. Now our legal system is turning into a total joke? Shame on you, Sony.

It's refreshing having a Jewish judge who uses Yiddishims. I can't wait for him to sing show tunes. I do that and I'm not a judge, not gay, and not a male. He's fun with justice/following the law.
I'd love to know more about Bailiff Tawya Young. She's got the most expressive face and manner of any of the judge show's bailiff.

I love Judge Yound...I think hes great...I had not heard of him until his show started. I havnt missed one yet...I respect and admire how he doesnt let his court get out of hand. Hes a pretty funny man and to me so far seems to be a man with a good and fair heart. Thanks for showing viewers the other side of the sterotypical views many still have because they have not met our kind yet. Its always nice when someone tells me the way I present myself has changed how they used to think of gay people...I believe Judge Young has the chance to do this and in my opinion he is doing a great job....Only thing bad for me is that I read hes partnered...LOL....He is quite the handsome and very funny man....

Does the Judge read this?...If so Your Honor let me tell you a short story..Im a gay single dad of a beautiful daughter,22years old and I have always tried to set a good example for her and allow her to see what gay really meant. Not just what she had heard from her mother for 13years. I was blessed to have her come live with me since then and it was not easy but she turned out to be the most wonderful daughter in the world. Having a disability, I have always provided to her what she needed, but she never had all she wanted. Part was due to my income leval and the other part was due to I NEVER recieved ANY child support nor did I ever apply for any kind of public assistance. I just did the best I could. My daughter tells everyonoe she meets her dad is gay and if they have any problem with it they should say so or leave...I am so proud of her I just cant tell you Sir. Ok so what am I asking?..Shes getting married to a great guy on May 10th and it would be so awesome to her if you were free and could perform her ceromony. That would be so cool.
PLEASE FORGIVE ME yall for using this space for my personal reasons. I apologige to all but I love my daughter so very much and it would be great to be able to do something really special for her wedding, as she truly deserves it.....Im sorry if some think im tacky for this but hey...Its a 50% chance and thats good enough for me...Either way Judge....You Rule...and Yes I am embarassed to post this but again...it provides the chance.

Judge Young, you are wonderful! (OK, and I have a small crush on you) Two fun friends and I are going to be in NY November 10-16, (then going to visit our former homes in Boston), Can we take you out for a drink?

Judge Young--I think you are absolutely fantastic! As my granddaughter says, "Judge David Young ROCKS!!!" And she's only 8!!! I have to tape your show for her while she's in school! We just love your sense of humor and your sense of fairness---oh, yeah, and when you burst out in song!! I also like to see that little temper flare up, too! You just keep on keeping on 'cause you're so good at what you do!!! We love you!!! :O)

Tawya you are so incredible. Beautiful, sexy, and with a attitude that makes me want to love you even more. Judge Young is entertaining, but the real reason I watch is to get a glimpse of you. Keep doing your thang girl.

I am a Canadian who decided to visit Florida for the winter. (I thought I could find a husband who might want a zaftig gal with good healthcare)
Being in Florida, I thought I would be addicted to the humidity, or at least the shopping, but no, I am addicted to your show.
I love how original you are. From your humor to the showtunes, to learning about the law, It's an hour a day of sheer entertainment.
For 5 glorious hours per a week, not only do I listen to interesting cases, I also get to listen to you use words which bring back such fond memories for me.
I remember vividly my late father using 'feh' to describe everything from my report card to my first date.
I frightened my parents in the 1980's as I had many gay friends (mostly male) and spent weekends at the gay clubs.
Being a straight woman, my parents thought I would never marry because my social life centered around my 'gay' friends.
Well, I should have listened to my friends who warned me not to marry this schmendrick I was engaged to.
Oh well....the marriage didn't last, but I have memories of my reception which resembled 'Le Cage au Faux.'
How many brides can say they had Eva Peron attend their wedding?
Most of my closest friends are no longer dancing on this earth, and that is why for many years, I volunteer for AIDS Canada and will continue to do so.
You Sir, have the best show on televison. Mazel Tov!

So glad to find your blog.
You and your show are SO full of shit.
I was PROMISED by your staff at that my case was a 'lay down' - I was assured I would win my case.
Instead, your show twisted my case into a JOKE just to make 'good tv' and then edited it into pieces to make it more appealing to your viewers.
Basically, it is Jerry Springer type show and after what I've been through with your show, I pray it is a huge failure.
If in fact you *were* a good judge at some point, that has faded quickly with your need for notariety. You are SO not a nice ((haimisha)) guy. You and your show are a farce.
I gave a diamond to my best friend's wife in good faith and you tried to make me look like the 'Village Idiot' for giving a sentimental gift.
Well, I would rather be the Village Idiot than a flaming, singing, fake tv judge any day of the week.

Originally, I was not interested or impressed with the general TV judge courtroom shows as they were presented in the early days of this format. They were (...and some what still are) a bit sensationalistic and in some instances stereotypical. Recently I have been working at home and inevitably a few of the new more modern shows presented themselves. Things have changed, in Judge David Young's show and others, I find a wealth of deep social awareness emerging in, of all places, daytime TV. This is particularly significant to me because I'm attempting to do a very carefully conceived family animated production canted against the prevailing trends in the television animation industry. Hollywood's social worldview seems to be that if your child or teenager isn't a near juvenile delinquent, there must be something wrong with them! I am so against this attitude and point of view and therefore I am creating a proposed pilot entitled Pockets to illustrate my alternative outlook. It's tough going, being as I'm a one-man animation studio with a visual disability and a fixed low income, nevertheless, believe it or not, I am making substantial headway. Judge David Young's show is well staged, funny and thought-provoking. He also manages to show the human face of the legal profession and demonstrates some of the social responsibility based motives that would attract good people to that profession.
Hypothetically, I would love to have the opportunity to do a one-off TV special, with as many of the TV judge's starring as possible in an ensemble variety comedy show conceived in a manner as far removed from the legal world as possible and yet draw from the human insight and talents of many of these charismatic judges. This undoubtedly would really shakeup the entertainment world. Well, It's a thought! I think it would be extremely entertaining. Many of these judges could totally lateral into the entertainment industry and become major talents in their own right and Judge David is one of the best!

David,
Shortly before my ex-wife and my friend were to appear on your show I was contacted by one of your producers. I was told that if I wrote a letter of support, my friend would win her case. I wrote the letter and found out later that I had been lied to. My friend lost her case.
On your web site your profile says, “His strong sense of personal responsibility is coupled with a real concern for people.” You had the opportunity to prove this by doing the right thing. Instead you folded like a wet napkin and shifted the responsibility to the “Ice Princess.”
What prevented you from ordering the diamond be returned? You’re obviously not bound by any recognized legal jurisdiction. You knew damn well that you were dealing with someone void of morals or ethics – much less a conscience, and that she would never part with the diamond.
Where were your strong moral convictions? Where were your ethics? Your pathetic cries of outrage could have been followed up with action, but you passed the buck instead.
You had the chance to do the right thing, the ethical thing, the morally correct thing, and you blew it. You and your producer are schmucks and your show is a joke.
Enjoy your 15 minutes.

Judge David - Love your show and DVR every episode.
As luck has it, the "ring" episode was just rerun this morning and I just finished watching it.
I think the posts by Ms. Solomon and Mr. Fleming are most inappropriate. Certainly, not being there to see the actual taping, I recognize that we are watching a program edited both for content and time.
However, I'd be hard-pressed to believe that the litigant was unaware of the terms and conditions of having you arbitrate her case. I assume she DOES have television and has seen perhaps one of the past eleven seasons of another Judge?
That being said, you based your decision fairly based on the facts presented to you and the supporting documentation.
Hopefully, the blogs will be less a venting dialogue from litigants and more from those of us who enjoy the show.
Posted by Joshua Silverstein | November 7, 2007 8:01 AM
Joshua,
It seems that you missed the point.
Laura and I were lied to by one of the producers of the show.
We were both told that Laura would win this case, “Hands down.”
Everyone was aware of the terms and conditions, and the producer guarenteed Laura that she would be coming home with her diamond.
As for the supporting documentation, both sides had equally strong evidence to support their case. So again, why would the “judge” decide to reward a “bully” and punish someone who had acted out of love? (Maybe to save Sony $3000?)
And as long as there are blogs, there will be venting.
Jeff

Jeff,
Thanks for providing additional clarification on your perspective of the issue. It would seem to me that if you and Ms. Solomon feel that one of the show's producers misrepresented themselves, then this issue should be reported to the media for them to investigate, unless you plan to document the discussions and bring the issues to Sony Pictures Entertainment.
Judge David Young is entitled to call himself "Judge" since he legally held the position (based on some web searching done today). The definition of a "bully" is "a blustering, quarrelsome, overbearing person who habitually badgers and intimidates smaller or weaker people." You are closer to the situation than those of us who are reading this blog, but it's not apparent that Ms. Fleming fits that description.
For this one viewer, and blog reader, I appreciate reading your opinions regardless of whether I believe the truthfulness of the claims being alleged.
Posted by Joshua Silverstein | November 7, 2007 2:34 PM
Josh,
Congratulations! While your involvement in the case seems to be limited to plopping down in front of the tube for 30 minutes, you have single-handedly proven the old adage about opinions.
As for the producer who lied, he is a rare individual. Few people can look in the mirror each day and know the exact dollar amount paid for their dignity. He knows what he did, and he knows what it cost him.
While David was a judge in real life, he is now a character on daytime television.
The term “bully” was used by the show. However, having lived with the defendant for several years I can, without hesitation, attest to the fact that the shoe fits.
Josh, while this foray into the world of blogs has been mildly entertaining, it has provided closure for this particularly ugly chapter in my life. You’ll have to blog on without me.
I wish you nothing but the best and hope that you will never have to endure the sufferings of anything as awful as a divorce (much less one who’s dirty laundry is exposed on national television).
Regards,
Jeff

It appears as though just like ME, the "ring' case was a set up.
I went on that show in a landlord/tenant dispute and I got scammed too. The producers of that show told ME also that I would have a guaranteed 'win.'
The show and the judge are a total joke. He makes a mockery out of the law acting like a fool singing and making jokes at the expense of the 'litigants'. And it is clearly unimportant to discuss his life partner Scott every few minutes. Another joke is the snappy fake baliff, she is a horrible parody of black women.
All around it was a bad experience in every way. Thank you for your suggestion Josh to report it to Sony.
Regards,
D. Washington

Hi Judge David!
First of all, it was not very easy getting to you by this screen...you might want to simplify it a bit!.
Enough of that, I absolutely LOVE your show...my only pet peeve is the commecials...how frustrating! I'm tempted to get a DVR to skip over commercials.
Well, I was watching the twin bride episode. The only thing I wanted to let you know, you said something like, "I would get married if I could!" Well, get your "butt" over to Massachusetts because we are the only state in the union that recognizes same sex marriages. LEGALLY in every sense!!!!
I'm hoping I'm helping you with this info..hope you get "hitched" soon in Beantown!
Keep up the good work...and tell everyone we can't stand so many commercials!
Good luck and take care.
Your caring fan,
Barbara Joyce

Mr. Young Why do you find it necessary to make your homosexual remarks constantly? Like you say in your opening statement "You have to be open to people who are different than you are" NO, I DO NOT!!!!!! You are what is WRONG-WRONG-WRONG---DID I SAY IT'S WRONG with this world. I DO NOT HAVE TO BE OPEN TO HOMOSEXUALS. GOD made us all the same--BLACK-WHITE-RED-YELLOW . He didn't make anybody better than anybody else. GOD did not make HOMOSEXUALS, (the DEVIL did) and you should get on your knees and beg for his forgiveness, and stop making your HOMO comments. Remember "SATIN BALLS" You should be ashamed of yourself. What does your sexual orientation have to do with your show. You're the Queen of the courtroom. You have every right to work and be on TV, but please keep your rude and crude sexual remarks to yourself. Sandy

Jeff,
Hopefully you'll go on line one last time and see this message.
Thanks for your final comments and for letting your messages provide a forum for others to talk about the problems they too have faced. Hopefully the result is that the appropriate changes are made so that the show can be successful.
I also hope that whatever the next chapter in the book of your life is, that it brings you less strife than what you've experienced thus far. Just a shame you weren't on the show so we could have put a face with a name.
All The Best,
Joshua

Mr. Young. Why do you only respond to the e-mails from the people that say nice, and kind things to you. Don't you think my comments were constructive????? I do not have have a problem with you as a person--after all, you are my brother-- but why do you, in every court case, have to make sexual comments????? That is not something you should be PROUD of!! You should be setting a good example for people. There is such a lack of respect to others and from others. You badger and berate people if they say or do something that you don't like. The guy that took his girl friends 6 year old daughter with him to Texas to confront her for cheating, you went on and on and on, tearing that guy a new one, but you don't think twice about some of the rude and crude remarks you JUDGE DAVID YOUNG make. Take a look in the mirror first

Wow, Blogs really make you realize just how many different people there are in the world. Unfortunately the quote "You can't make all the people happy all the time, you can only make some of the people happy some of the time"... Is seriously true. David, I commend you for being on TV and opening yourself up to an entire world of criticism. Being different, in itself, attracts attention, but you, are different, and in the spotlight. Must be hard. In a world of ignorance and bigotry, you still have the (how we like to say, huevos, haha) to get up in front of people and be yourself. And that is what is important. Everyone has comments about how they don't mind the show, but you need to change, or they would watch the show, if you were "less gay" lol. DON'T CHANGE! Be just who you are. It has been just fine so far, and congratulations on the renewal for the second season. Just goes to show that there are those of us who will watch the show and give ACTUAL constructive criticism, and despite your beliefs Sandy, telling someone to stop being so Gay, isn't very constructive, lol) But anyway, Kudos on the show, Keep doin' what you're doin'. And for those people who still take the time to hunt down your blog, and post comments, they secretly still love ya :) Otherwise, why take the time right?

I am thrilled to be able to watch Judge Young's totally fabulous show! As a 58 year old gay woman (who has been collecting penguins for ages!), I find him honest, funny, and, most important, fair. This wonderful man has jumped to the top of my list of "People Who I'd Love to Have Lunch With!"
Posted by Mary Hirtle | November 19, 2007 9:51 AM
By the way, this is for Sandy and Betty. If you don't like Judge Young, change the channel! Nobody is forcing you to watch. If the show offends your values (?), change the channel. I'm sure the 700 Club would love for you to watch. What isn't right is for people like you to try and force your bigoted, narrow-minded views on the rest of us. You seem to be upset that the good judge is gay, and that goes against your religion. Hmmmmm.... So from that, I must assume that you follow all the Good Book's instructions. You must then:
1. Never eat pork, or even touch it. *there goes football*
2. Practice human sacrifice
3. Have slaves
4. Have more than one wife (or husband, whatever)
5. give up all your wordly possessions to follow the Lord's teachings
6. pay a tithing to the church
7. Submit to your husband in every way (hand over your free will and possessions)
8. Conduct no business on the day of rest (forget Walmart on Sunday)
9. Never drink alcohol
I could go on, and on, and on. But what's the point? People like you pick and choose what parts of the Good Book you chose to follow and are able to justify your infidelities. Perhaps you should consider moving to Kansas, so you can join Westboro Baptist Church, and hang out with the likes of The Wrong Rev. Fred Phelps and his lovely lawyer daughter Shirley. Maybe you can help them make "GOD HATES FAGS" signs for their next demonstration at the funeral of an American soldier killed in Iraq.
Sandy says Judge Young badgers people. Apparently she has never watched Judge Judy, or Judge Hatchett. They wrote the book on badgering. Most of the people who appear before these judges need badgering because that's the only thing they can understand (and even that doesn't help some of them, because the space between their ears is for rent).
Judge David Young is the best thing to come along since Judy Garland put on those ruby slippers!!

David...
Thank you!! I simply adore the penguin you wear on your robe!!! I've got to get one! I started collecting penguins about 25 years ago. People used to think I was nuts, but then, all of a sudden, out comes "March of the Penguins," and "Happy Feet" and now Penguins are IN. Ah well.. we were into penguins first!
My partner and I have lived in Virginia for many years. However, we frequently vacation in your area, usually on our way to the Caribbean. Maybe someday we can really do that lunch!!
Of course, lunch would be much nicer on a cruise! Do you fellows every take cruises?? (On a ship, of course... not go cruising.. never mind.. I'm stumbling over my words.... duh)
I'm watching your show right now as a matter of fact. By the way, someday I'll tell you about my personal encounter with Rev. Jerry Falwell, and also with Westboro Baptist Church. You'll get a kick out of both of them!!!
See you on the yellow brick road!!

Ahhhh Mary....I should have known you were gay too. If you are going to talk about the BIBLE, get your facts straight. Saturday is the day of rest, not Sunday. Of course I pay my tithes. God asks for only 10 percent of our income, and He gives us soooo much. GOD told us what we can and cannot eat. No, I do not eat pork, or shrimp, or alcohol. Adam and Eve didn't listen to GOD in the Garden of Eden, when He told them what they could and could not eat. They didn't listen, is the reason why everything is wrong in this world today. What Bible do you read???? God doesn't tell us to have more than one husband or wife, we did that on our own. What human sacrifice are you talking about??? I don't watch Judge Judy, just for the simple reason of the way she does talk to people. Judge Judy does not make sexual remarks or her show either. Mr. Young seems more interested in letting the whole world know that he is gay, than just being a TV Judge. That's just what the networks need, not another TV Court show, but a song and dance, GAY TV Court show. Isn't it sad that they have taken God out of the classroom, and they want to take "IN GOD WE TRUST" off of dollars. But it is OK to be a crude, potty mouthed, gay tv court judge.

Sandy, why can't you just accept that the entire world has a different set of beliefs? Even after your last post, I can safely say that there are sooo many "GOD fearing christians" out there that would still disagree with you. EVERYONE is different. Things are this way for a reason. Would be awfully boring if we were all the same wouldn't it? Step off your high horse for a minute, because GOD didn't make you better than anyone else, and yes that includes homosexuals. And in that same Bible that you read so religiously and seem to quote from quite often also says not to judge anyone. But in every post you seem to linger on the word, gay Gay GAY. I really doubt that Judge David Young has posted blogs so that he could be preached to and lectured. And you have to realize, that anyone that is Gay, Im sure has heard it ATLEAST once in their lives, so really, it's all being repeated. And repetition can be quite annoying. (ever have someone in an office, that taps their fingers on the desk constantly? Irritating isn't it?) It is sad that they have taken GOD out of part of this country, but isn't it obvious that GOD looks for it in your heart when it has disappeared from your nation? All I'm saying is, it isn't up to you to decide how people should live their lives, it never was, and it never will be, people will always be different, and if you can't accept that maybe you should just stay away from people in general, because when you go around judging people it makes it harder for everyone, and in the end will make it harder on yourself. That's one of the problems with the world today, people are taking their beliefs and making them superior to other's beliefs. And when that happens, nothing goes right, Just look into history, the Spanish Inquisition-- it will happen again someday, and you are just one of the many few that are helping it along.
Posted by Lynze | November 29, 2007 7:18 AM
And as for GOD not telling us its ok to have more than one wife... are you saying that the bible has been changed then? Because it is surely in the bible.

David Young,
First congrats on the show, that has to be exciting for you and quite a life changing opportunity. I bet you are having a blast.
I, for some strange reason am a Closet Court Show JUNKIE...I have no idea why...anyway, I dig your show. It's fun, and a little different...I like the "Homily" at the end of each case.
My job has me traveling 75%, but I rarely miss a show. It drives me nuts when a hotel has limited channels and doesn't pick up your show.
If you smoke cigars, we should hook up for one, and a nice libation. You look like a lot of fun.
Best of luck to you. Hope your show survives.
I am heading to your myspace page right now.
here's mine: http://www.myspace.com/samleccia
Again, All the Best,

Sandy,
Change the channel if u don't like it.
Man the Satin Balls was maybe a stretch, but you must of missed some his better ones...like the "I know a little about Male bonding" episode, or the "There's only one queen in this court room"...
Man that is great stuff...I love the show...and for you guys that are upset about your judgements...It's a TV show, not the supreme court...get over it...If it makes for good tv...then it's good tv. I am sure you got compensated for your 15 minutes.
Love the show David, keep up the nice work!
And keep Da Nile from flowing into your courtroom.

I'd just like to remind those people who remarked negatively about Judge David Young, that Christ died upon the cross for all mankind. That God loved the world so much that he gave his only begotten son to live and die on the cross. Jesus taught us all that we will face an eternal life. Jesus himself loved his male and female friends alike, the only difference is that he never took his love on the humorous side.
In today's unkind world humor is necessary to get the message across that we all are of the Vine of Christ. Christ himself said that we are of the Branches of the Christ, and to learn to act accordingly and not judge others.
It is time we learn to put aside our differences, and love one another and sing and dance with people like Judge Young. God is always watching, and He is watching how you are placing yourselves higher in worthyness then people like David Young.
Christ died embracing the entire world, this is the real significance for him being crucified He could have been stoned to death, but the impact of his death would not have been the same. God knew they only way to get the message across to the world how much he loved the entire world was to have his son died for it in the manner which it happened.
God could have created Christ as a tyrant bogeyman (a God to be feared) by every man in his day, instead Christ, the son of God was a gentle loving man with an eternal heart. If you are a Christian let His teachings lead your head and heart, it's really not about sex, its about loving another human being despite differences.

Jenna, Lynzie and Sam--thank you for those kind words. Your comments mean so much and I am SO GLAD you enjoy the show.
Mary, if more people had your outlook on life, then the world would be a far better place. We have to always work on educating those who are not as enlightened as we are. Thank you.

I hope everyone saw the cartoon yesterday.
"Family Guy" Fox is jumping in on the gay rights issue regarding their rights to adopt unwanted children.
David, I am so glad to understand you are comfortable in your own skin, and not about to go chop chop, take female hormones, and wear female cloths and pretend to be a women to attract the opposite sex. Men and women who do this is where I draw the line as this is the same as murder, and people who do this don't realize that it's the same as slapping God in the face. It's like saying to God,
"God, you screw up, Now I have to fix your mistake."
You are a lovely man in your own skin and form, and you do indeed have the correct sense and profound judgement to be sitting on the bench in our court system.
I just like to add that I don't appreciate "Danny Boys" following me into the Ladies room at Walmart. I'm glad the local manager took a stand to ban one of them from the store.

Mary Ann I completely and totally agreed with you first post. The second, however, I'm going to have to disagree on. To compare someone being a transsexual to someone being a murderer is just preposterous. You can't possibly preach of equality and love, and being non-judgmental, then turn around and say, you draw the line at transgenders and transsexuals. Atleast not without crossing the line of hypocrisy yourself. I can honestly say that I couldn't possibly understand the way that they feel, or even why they do the things that they do, but I could also never pretend to know either. They are people as well, people who are different, for one reason or another. I have seen documentaries in which even children feel so uncomfortable in their own skin that go as far as to have sex changes. Of course the first thing they think is that GOD made a mistake, what else are they supposed to think. They see GOD as their creator and feel as if something wasn't right. That does not by any means make them murderers as they are still a living spirit in a human body. Maybe GOD created them that way, for the sole purpose of making it harder to accept people for the way that they are. If it were easy, we would all do it right? The fact is, nobody knows why they are the way they are, the only thing we know for sure is that they are people, like anyone else, and we should still love and accept them and refrain from judging them just because they are different.

Dear Lynze,
I don't judge these people in a sense that you think I do. I am clearly making sense to say that these people do not appreciate what God gave them. Remember, God made every male and female in his image. To go and simply self distruct the image of God, which is yourself, your physical body it is the same as distroying the temple of God. Your body is God's holy temple. To pollute it with drugs, alcohol, and other bad things, and to perform alternative surgery on certain body parts, and to inhance those parts with chemicals that do not belong their naturally is distruction of God's property. If you can't appreciate what God has given you in life then he will eventually take it away, and you will be left with nothing. It's that simple.
Posted by Mary Ann Sawant | December 3, 2007 10:14 PM
Doesn't God eventually take it away from everyone? That's just a simple part of life. I think that alternative surgery is going a little far, but for some it may not feel that way. Don't get me wrong, I have piercings, and tattoos, and have even been guilty of dyeing my hair a time or two, would you compare that to alternative surgery? They are, in fact, things that were not there to begin with.
With a statement like "I just like to add that I don't appreciate "Danny Boys" following me into the Ladies room at Walmart. I'm glad the local manager took a stand to ban one of them from the store." Makes your comment sound more like a personal vendetta than anything. And I'm not saying that you absolutely hate them or anything, but you are indeed judging them. In the sense way that people judge homosexuality, they pick things that they believe in, and apply them to homosexuality to fill in the blanks. You just picked a different topic. Let me give you an example, My cousin, bless her heart, is a die-hard church going, Christian. She recently told me that she doesn't judge me for being gay. Then followed that statement with, Jesus loves the sinner, he just hates the sin, so Jesus still loves you too. Well that, is a judgment. Not necessarily a direct judgment but when you try to analyze someone by what they do or do not do, and put such a name like sin to their actions, you are judging whether or not they are actual sins. It is not any human beings place to do so.

I HAVE TO DISAGREE WITH YOU STATING THAT PASSING A BAD CHECK IS A CIVIL MATTER. I WORK FOR A POLICE DEPARTMENT AND THERE ARE CHARGES FOR PASSING BAD CHECKS TO BUSINESSES. IT IS CONSIDERED A FRAUD. WE TAKE REPORTS AND ATTEMPT TO COLLECT THE MONEY FOR THE BUSINESSES WITH A 10 DAY LETTER, AND YOU CAN GET ARRESTED FOR THE CHARGE. PERSONAL CHECKS BETWEEN 2 PEOPLE, THAT IS A CIVIL CASE. IF YOU EVER LOOK AT A CCH ON A PERSON, PASSING BAD CHECKS IS A VERY COMMON ENTRY.

Dear Lynze,
There are laws of man, and then there are laws of God. The difference between them is that God’s laws are not subject to change, they will not become obsolete while the laws of man are created by opinion, and lobbyist and the whims of time, and fashion of society.
People may get away with many things under the laws of man and be accepted by his fellow human being but counting on the same acceptance from the creator that anything goes as long as it feels good may just be the wrong advice to give anyone. So, I am not judging, but to point out that maybe if we truly believe in a Heavenly creator, then we should adhere to certain guidelines for our behavior

Can we chill with all the God talk? Geeesh.
it's just a TV show...and the judge is gay...big deal...comments on this board or any other will never change that.
why agrue it? what does anyone gain from it all?
agree to disagree.
Homosexuality is not a choice.
Now lets just keep these posts positive.

Nobody is getting negative, Sam, it's a simple discussion, not an argument. AND nobody said anything about David being gay, not for awhile anyway, nor did anyone say that it's a choice to be gay.
Posted by Lynze | December 4, 2007 5:05 PM
i really think your show is a joke. You don't act professional. You act like a child. I don't
want to see a judge singing, and you cut everyone
off trying to be funny. Judge Judy has nothing to
worry about.You don't act like a judge.

David, It's obvious you have a deep rooted passion other then Law, and that is to be a star performer. Personally there is nothing wrong with that, as long as all your performances are done in real style and taste

Carol you have no idea what you are talking about. Judge David is the real deal. He is the only one who rules with a heart. DON'T CHANGE JUDGE!!
Posted by Jenna Simmons | December 5, 2007 5:05 PM
I agree. Let's stop with the God stuff. Narrow minded so-called Christians will never change. So let's not waste our time and energy trying to help them see that they are hateful bigots who can only feel good about themselves by picking on someone else. Let's just talk about the show, and how FABULOUS Judge David is!!!

sandy ellis you are a crazy fuck! just to let you know psycos like you are what the devil created. If god is what crazy religious people say what he is than he obviously wouldnt have a problem with excepting gay people. what you need to except is that gay people live in this world and you need to fucking deal with it bitch.
p.s. I love you Judge David Young your my queen!

Jessica, and you are my queen too! Thank you for those warm thoughts and for loving me!

I love your show you seem to have a way of cutting through the nonsense and getting to the truth without all the yelling and screaming that goes on in the Judge Judy show I'm a retired woman and a grandma who tries to teach her grandkids that aggression is wrong at any level and when you see judges putting people down and calling them names it rubs the wrong way . I also love your humour and I'm not even Jewish or gay. I'm afraid I'm not too fond of your bailiff though I think her expressions are a bit over the top

To Judge David Young: regarding the case of the woman who was unhappy with the end result of having her pet cat of 17 years deep-frozen (is that a correct term?) so she could keep it around, and have it buried with her when she died. She emphasized, several times, I bellieve, that the cat was "family". Why didn't you ask her if she would have had one of her children or parents, or any other member of her family deep-frozen to be able to keep them around, etc. The fine should have been shared; half to the plaintiff for such a ridiculous request, and half to the taxidermist for acquiescing to such a stupid request.

Carol, thank you for your comments. I am glad you like my humour! Isn't diversity of wonderful thing! :). M. Loraine Cline, the plaintiff in the case went to the defendant with a particular request (she even had a foto to show what she wanted). When he agreed to take the job, that created a contract. The Defendant clearly breached the contract, so that is why the Plaintiff was successful in her law suit. Now personally..... Thank you for watching and have a great week.
