Pop Justice

As a criminal court judge in Miami, I had to squelch my personal opinions for almost 15 years. Sitting judges are never allowed to express themselves on the issues of the day.
We are not allowed to say anything that might be perceived as bias if that issue ever came before us in court. It’s not that we don’t have opinions; it’s just that we can’t say them out loud.
Judges have been kicked off the bench for violating these strict rules. It can be quite frustrating.
But lucky for me, my freedom of speech was essentially restored when I stepped down from the Miami bench to become a TV judge. When most judges leave the bench, they are finally able to talk with friends and neighbors about current events. Ha! Friends and neighbors are fine, but now I get to share my thoughts with the entire country. It is awesome. Simply awesome.
For example, I cannot tell you how thrilled I was to be asked to comment on national news for the first time (on the Fox News Channel, no less!) about Paris Hilton’s alleged million-dollar deal with NBC for her first post-jail interview.
Since my national news debut on Fox News, I have been invited to serve as a legal commentator for TV, radio and in print. I have given my opinion on all kinds of mishaps involving today’s pop culture icons, including Lindsay Lohan, Nicole Ritchie, Sen. Larry Craig, Sean Combs, Kiefer Sutherland, O.J. Simpson and, of course, Britney and Fed-X.
Although I don’t exactly feel sorry for Sen. Craig, my heart goes out to Britney and K-Fed’s children. If I were the judge presiding in that case, I think I just might have the chance to do some good for their family. Their judge must take an aggressive, pro-active approach. That means making sure that Britney is in drug rehab (an in-patient program of the court’s choosing, for several months in length, away from the media focus — and certainly not some cushy drug spa), and both Britney and Kevin should attend parental counseling. Kevin should probably be required to submit to mandatory drug testing and attend Narcotics Anonymous meetings as well.
Whatever the court’s solution, I hope and pray for the welfare of those children. The parents are adults. Even if they feel (wrongly) that as celebrities they are above the law, I suppose that’s their choice. But these children made no such choice. They deserve to live in a nurturing, healthy home. I have seen how devastating it can be for children whose parents engage in drug-addicted behavior. These children deserve better.
Being a TV judge is an indescribable privilege. If you had said 18 months ago, as I sat in my chambers in Miami, that I would be commenting publicly on celebrity justice and real issues of our time, I would have told you to stop partying so hard with Britney Spears. This road I’m on now is certainly unexpected, but I feel like one of the luckiest guys on the planet.

I can imagine how different the two would be. I think any kind of change that allows you to express your own opinions and be more yourself would be a change for the better. We should ALL value opinions whether we agree with them or not, and alot of people would benefit from learning so. I have heard both positive and negative comments about the show but can honestly say they are more positive than negative. I also noticed someone made a comment about the Bailiff on the show as well. I have to say I entirely disagree. I have never seen her act inappropriately or anything like a hussie. (Tawya is hot btw haha :-p) The two of you mesh so well on the show, and it would be sooo different if you had another bailiff. So although I so value others opinions, I really have to disagree on this one.

I watch a lot of these television judges and Judge David Young is this first judge i've seen make a really bad decision.
Look at the Rock and teeth episode this week.
"Both" kids threw the rock at the little boy at the same time and for some dumb reason Judge David Yound picked the rock which hit the little boy when he has no evidence which rock hit.
I watch these shows everyday and have never written a comment so this must be bad.
Get rid of this Dude!

THE CASE OF MANY BOYS THROWING ROCKS
Hello David Young, TV Entertainment Judge
I wish you good business BUT . . . your business is the law and we the viewers have something to say about that.
Judge Judy's intro says this is HER courtroom but it is not. It is OUR courtroom. We pay Judy a lot of money (as viewers we pay salaries) to get it right. And she does not get it right most times about 20%. We don't want judges on benches to holler at people though we understand the aggravation. We certainly don't want judges to call people names like "stupid" and "loser." And, we don't want the judges to "parent" the litigants. People parent according to their (domestic) culture. But J. Judy is tolerated just a little bit because she has a lot of life experience and she does have a persona that's entertaining. Often she's right too. But someone as young as you David does not need to parent from the bench and no one really wants to hear your personal opnions. (Well, not much.) We watch the show for the LAW and the entertainment with the litigants mainly because of how they think and act but mostly how the law sees problems and how the law solves the problem with logic (and some morals but then whose morals gets to be the problem). We are not watching the show for parenting and talk about male-gay-bonding rituality. IT IS OBVIOUS WITHIN 30-seconds that you are gay! We are not watching David, the gay guy, we are watching the LAW with ordinary problems and ordinary people. PLEASE STICK TO THE LAW!
We have had to allow all the young people to grow up before our eyes on TV from Oprah to Diane Sawyer and many others. Our tolerance will extend to you too David but we will criticize you so you can get your job and your performance in gear for a TV success that we want and need. But you are starting out doing just what Oprah did -- speaking way too much about something you know very little about and speaking condescendingly. That's why we want you to stick to the law, respect the litigants and learn to deliever good quips but not your idea of parenting skills and putdowns.
NOW CULTURE. All of the TV judges want to overwhelm the litigants with their PERFECT (DOMESTIC) CULTURE. Like Judge Marilyn Millan. She's young. She thinks she has it all. She thinks she knows it all much better than the people before her. But we know she is just one tube of lipstick and one pair of panties in the glove compartment of the family car away from everyone else.
TODAY'S VERDICT . . .
IT WAS CLEAR TO ANYONE WHO WATCHED TODAY THAT ALL THE BOYS THREW ROCKS INCLUDING THE INJURED BOY. AT MOST, THE DEFENDANT SHOULD HAVE HAD TO PAY ONE-THIRD OF THE BILL. SOMEONE ASKED THAT QUESTION IMMEDIATELY. (DAVID TALKED ALL AROUND THAT QUESTION. WE SAW THAT!) JUDGE DAVID APPEARED IMMATURE BECAUSE THAT LIFE LESSON IS SO OLD AND OBVIOUS. MOST PARENTS WOULD HAVE OFFERED TO PAY PART RIGHT AWAY AND NEVER SEE A JUDGE. NOW THE BOYS WILL NOT LIKELY BE FRIENDS ANY MORE BECAUSE THAT MOTHER WILL NOT WANT TO PAY ALL THAT MONEY KNOWING IT WAS UNFAIR.
PLEASE STICK TO THE LAW!!!! YOU ARE NOT SOLOMON. YOU'RE A TV JUDGE and our opinion counts because it grounds the judges to what we want to watch, see and hear.
Margaret, Viewer

I missed this episode so there isn't much that I could say about it. But as for it being obvious that he's gay within the first 30 seconds, really what does that have to do with anything. If it bothers you, change the channel. We do have opinions about what we want to see on TV, unfortunately out of the millions of people in this country alone, everyones opinions seem to be different, and tend to clash. In your post Margaret, you seem to be trying to represent us all as viewers and that shouldn't be the case. You should have replaced all of your WEs simply with I's because you are speaking for you and you alone. Though I'm sure Judge David will appreciate your constructive criticism this statement here really bothers me.
"We are not watching the show for parenting and talk about male-gay-bonding rituality. IT IS OBVIOUS WITHIN 30-seconds that you are gay!"
I just don't see how that pertains to the show at all. I'm sure there are people out there who might possibly watch the show just because he is a gay Judge, and that's fine. Everyone has their own reasons to watch the show, and whatever their reasons may be, please, stop trying to mold Judge David into your idea of the perfect Judge. In my opinion, if there is something you don't like about the show, grin and bear it, or just change the channel.

My wife and I saw your show the other night and really enjoyed it (the episode with the private eye and the jealous lover). If I closed my eyes I could almost hear you talking at student government meetings at Tulane in the 80's. Its great to see you on television, and good luck and best wishes with the show.

Lynze, thank your for your comments--they are much appreciated. Bob, yours was not a bigoted comment at all. It was critical of my decision (one of my closest friends is in agreement with you by the way), for which I have no problem--thanks for watching and taking the time to write). And Ted, THANKS for watching. I wish we could have spent more time together last year. Would love to get in touch with you and meet Mrs. Ted Jones. To all--Happy Thanksgiving! My best, David

Today you had a show that pertained to a puppy that died. You said that the dog should not have gone outside because it could "catch" eplipsey outside. The puppy cannot catch that outside. He had to been born with it. She was sold a dog that should not have been sold. You are not a doctor. Helga

Helga, did I really say that? If I did, then as Dear Abby would say I should be hit with a wet noodle. Thanks for the alert. David

I just can't believe this judge! He sings "Mr,Ed." does he really take the law seriously? Or is he really a joke? I have never seen a justice judge be such a fool on the bench, he thinks he is teaching someone something and knows wisdom he knows nothing about life or the law that he doesn't read from a book. He sounds like a little kid up there. I have watched every law judge on the T.V. and he is the stupidest one yet. Sony pictures should drop this show its a joke and a insult to the company. To even consider putting this show on the air he even sings "ANNIE". He thinks he is on Broadway. And what is that gold thing on his robe he is wearing? He is a fruit of another tree. And pick him off the air as soon as possible!!!! I think channel 13 in Calif is hard up for shows and this is just a foolish joke now he answers his cell phone? OMG!!!!!!!!

I am a huge fan of TV court shows...i really have no idea why, but i find them captivating. Judge David Young is no different in that regard.
Love the show, very entertaining. If I wanted to see serious law preceedings I'd hang out at the local family court. I watch Court shows because the ligigants are entertaining, as is the judge.
The only judge that annoys me, but I still watch, is Maria Lopez...she uses more cliche's than a 80's movie script..."if u can't stand the heat, than get out of the court room? Talk about the american dream I AM the american dream...who rights her stuff? Talk about american cliche's, SHE IS an american cliche.
"Gangs, jail, I was there...second chances, I got one"...that's an intro.
sorry, had to rant, and I have no one to rant to in regards to my court show addiction.
Keep on Keepin On, Judge David.
and keep him on..(the air)
Sorry for being such a loser...court shows are my love.
Gotta Go though..11 minutes to Wapner.

In defense of Judge David Young once again, you all have to remember that the court is filmed live, and there is no well orchestrated professional script writings here.
Yes, David at times may seem a bit immature, but still lovable, and at times he is very funny. I admit sometimes he does not think before he speaks, and he tends to think about the delivery of his “punch lines” out of context of the court case.
Like for instance in the case where the pit bull attacked the little German Snouzer, only weighing at 5 pounds, and the pit bull weighing at around 56 pounds. The plaintiffs tried to get money back from Judge David for their inconvenience of missing a taping of a live “American Idol” show there in New York City.
David, I must point out that you really lost it here. It would have served a purpose well to state very quickly that you are a fan of “American Idol” as well, and end it there. But you went on and on to a point of no return. Furthermore, when the plaintiff’s husband admitted he actually was not a fan of American Idol, for some strange reason you, lost it even further, and lifted up your honors robe and stated. “I’ve got one of them too!”
It appeared to me that your plaintiffs at that point was not amused, however, the wife politely chuckled at your attempt of humor. We get the picture, David. OK! But you are obviously trying to mix court justice with education to the public about gay life. It’s not necessary, and it is an insult to attempt to educate with this kind of behavior that can be considered by most to be vulgar.
Now I like you a lot, but you really need professional guidance to become a shining star if that’s what you want in life. In order to become a successful television judge you must show your audience, and your plaintiffs and your defendants, and other professionals in the business that you have all that it takes, and more to sit on that bench. You must not forget that you are in a very heavy weight competition. Like American Idol. There are many television judges now gaining celebrity ship. You would not want to be the first television judge that Sony pulled the plug on, so please think before you act. If you need further assistance, I am in the business of marketing and promotions

Judge Young,
I have had a difficult time finding a contact address for you so I hope that you still read your comments on this blog. My mother and I are both fans of your show. You won our hearts especially when you had the case of the single mother who was suing a pawn shop over a scooter. You understood better than anyone I've ever seen in your position the plight of a single mother and how difficult small things, such as gas money that most people take for granted, are to come by at times. My mother and I have worked in law enforcement all of our lives and seen how often the human element has been taken out of the court system. Also, your passion to give voice to the most helpless among us, the animals, is inspirational. Please don't change a thing about yourself or your show. You put the bleeding heart of the people that the system it was meant to protect back into the justice system.
thank you.

Thank you very much for your reply! If you are ever in the Birmingham, AL area feel free to come on by Walker County and drop by our Narcotics Team, we'd be glad to have you around. I think you would particularly like the way we do things in one respect at least- we are particularly conscious (on search warrants) of the fact that while their owners may be going to jail for very legitimate reasons that the pets shouldn't have to suffer- if there are pets in a house where everyone is going to jail, we make sure they make contact with someone to come and pick them up just as we would if there were children present. As a group of avid animal lovers, our whole team is horrified to hear stories of other agencies not being so aware and leaving animals abandoned in drug houses only to starve to death when their owners are unable to make bond for weeks on end! I've often felt it should be part of law enforcement training to consider these situations, but alas, most agencies aren't as lucky to have a leader as animal concerned as our director (he has rescued many a mutt in his personal life). Feel free to get in touch, lightofnostalgia@aol.com -we've often discussed how fun it would be to have lunch with you! Once again, thanks for using your fame to make the world a more tolerant, beautiful and considerate place to exist.

Wow! Just checkin in on the site, articles, comments, etc. Wow! Freedom of Speech combined with the capabilities of the net is a great thing huh? Everyone has an opinion that they can (and obviously do) share. My first experience with watching Court on TV was the original launch of The People's Court. From then until now, I've seen many verdicts that I may personally not agree with but I dont hold any degrees or training in this area. Geez people! Calm Down! There is never an excuse for rudeness.
Maybe I'm biased because I like Judge David. If you dont like him...change the channel. DUH! This has been the ONLY site where I've ever posted a comment. This is my second and I do it to supportive because I thinkl that highly of him.
Posted by Steph | February 1, 2008 9:34 AM
I couldn't agree with you more Steph. Opinions have always been an important part when you're in the spotlight, the good and bad. And although I'm sure David knew this from the beginning, and prepared himself for both sides, some comments have been completely unnecessary. But I should add that from what I've seen, He ALWAYS replys and takes his criticism in the utmost respectable manner. He remains professional, and never retaliates. That says something about him. And as I said before, and I'll say again... These people that are "hunting" down your website and taking the time to post negative comments, are STILL taking the time. They still secretly got love for ya' ;)
Have a Great Weekend

Do you think that you will go to an hour? You are the bomb! I too love penquins, and I have adopted my 4 dogs from the pound. I think you are wise and caring and so very fair. Judge Young,
Sir, I have to tell you that I will no longer be watching your show. I love judge shows and I usually can put up with your gay antics, but today was the last straw. Today, 11 Mar, aired a case of a mother sueing daughter's ex for money. You made a comment [my own words] you straight people just can't be responsible with having childern and people make comments about gays; at least gays would be more responsible with children. Sir, I guarantee that if any straight judge made an anti-gay comment on television, they'd be made to apologize and surely the gay/lesbian activist groups would demand their job. I spent 20 years serving the United States Air Force to protect the freedom that America stands for and I'm proud that you don't have to hide who you are. But you are a judge of the law and not a judge of people. You are a public role model and don't you think straight people should be afforded the same respect as gays/lesbians? Please don't payback the years you were "silenced" on the bench to now use your bench to attack heterosexuals.
Posted by Nicki | March 11, 2008 4:10 PM
Nicki, what are you talking about? You sound like one bigoted bitch. Judge Young did not say what you said he did. Face it girlfriend, you don't like gay people. Do feel the same way about African-Americans, like me, too???? Hmmmm
Posted by Jena Simons | March 11, 2008 4:25 PM
My comment is respectfully to Judge Young.
Judge Young,
Sir, please read my comment as a sincere concern for treating all people equally, regardless of sexual orientation, and not in judgment of any form.
v/r
Nicki
Posted by Nicki | March 11, 2008 5:51 PM
I also read Nicki's comment as sincere. I saw nothing in the entire thing that sounded the "bigotry" alarm. I don't know about anyone else but it gets a little tiring hearing the "you don't like me/him/her because i'm/he's/she's gay" card. But at the same time I believe ALOT of people are oblivious to just the kind of freedom, or lack thereof that actually exists in this country, but that is another topic entirely. Jena, Nicki said not a single thing about African-Americans in her post. Where did that even come from? Or are you just trying to relate to being a minority in some way? I guess I just don't understand why you even brought that up. I also agree with Nicki's comment about straight ppl being afforded the same respect as homosexuals. Unfortunately, Nicki... That respect, in most cases, is almost non existent, but I do get where you are coming from, as far as everyone being treated equally. I also think it is childish and pointless to respond to everyone that you disagree with as a "bigoted bitch" Just slightly over reacting.
Posted by Lynze | March 11, 2008 7:19 PM
Lynze,
I appreciate your ability to read a comment for what it is. I actually like Judge Young and am not attacking who he is. My comment was based on pointing out our societies insatiable need to be politically correct which seems to only apply to certain groups. I hope Judge Young can also view my comment as not an attack on him but to point out that if some groups want respect, so must we afford it to all.
Respectfully,
Nicki

Nicki, thanks for commenting. I am not a person that casts generalizations. Doing so is wrong..did I say it's wrong? It's wrong it's wrong it's wrong. What I see going on for the Democratic Presidential nomination race is sickening!! As far as Jenna's comments, she is a loyal and protective fan. I do not agree with her assesment of you or your comments. Lynzie--your fabulous. Thank you 3 for watching and being totally honest--I respect that! Hugs to you all...

Today is March 24, '08 and I have just viewed Judge David Youngs show for the first time. Words can't express how shocked I am to see such a mockery in the courtroom. It seems to get worse and worse with every new court show that comes on. I see ACTUAL JUDGES, who must have enough intelligence to have passed the bar exam but then turn around and make an ass of themselves like a frustrated wanna be actor / actress. I have seen obnoxious behavior when they shift into their power mad mode. egotistical self serving show offs that want to use this forum as a means to spout off about their own personal agendas... cloaked in garb that is meant to imply that they are above reproach.... NOT. Of all the different Courtroom shows I have viewed the only one that seemed to have any ebb of a brain was Judge Joe Brown... but as time went bye he too, picked up on this over dramatization. How sad is this.... as if real life isn't enough for these poor souls they have to embellish every facial expression they make... every motion ... every sentence... it's pathetic. I for one would never spend a nickel on the products of the companies that sponsor these shows. In today's show when you were talking to the little 10 year old girl that had stolen her grandmother's jewelry (you missed your calling... she certainly did take it) you said to her "UNCLE DAVID YOUNG" bla bla bla.. good grief, grow up.... you are just waaaaay over the top with your swish.
Posted by Nan Bruno | March 24, 2008 3:49 PM
Ms. Bruno, you are an ignorant bigot(an oxymoron. Let me try to put this simply, these shows are not real courtrooms. Judge David is perhaps the best and most compassionate Judge on TV. He is awesome!!!! Not liking his courtroom style is your choice, but to end your illogical comments by using the term 'swish', proves my point about you being a bigot. You probably will watch him everyday, because deep down you really like him (like so many of us). You can't turn him off...
Posted by Jena Simons | March 24, 2008 8:45 PM
I frequently watch this show and I find it very refreshing. Finally, a judge that has a heart as well as upholds the law. I like how he comes down and talks with the audience in the courtroom.
He sees things with the heart as well in the law. There are judges who are harsh and very abrasive. We are all human beings. We are all different in some way, but we have feelings and are all God's children. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but again we must open our hearts.
I love when Judge David stands up for animals. Someone has to speak for these creatures that cannot speak for themselves. We must give them a voice. Thank you. Don't change. Work it!
Job well done.

Judge David, saw part of your case today with regards to the pitbull/yorkie story. You made a comment that a little dog would not attack a big pitpull, provoke a large dog. We had a similar experience where my moms chihuahua was nose to nose with a neighbor's very passive german shepherd, when the little dog snapped at the larger dog. The shepherd grabbed the little dog, did not shake her, tear her to pieces, but did ultimlately break her leg, puncture her lung, cause some damage, which could have been fatal for the snotty little monster. The little dog has always been barky, king of the hill/princess type mentality, and this time it almost cost her her life. Don't assume the bigger dog is at fault. We have a pitbull that is very passive with other dogs, has never attacked a smaller dog, but has been barked at and hastled by smaller dogs.
Posted by Deb Kazmierczak | April 1, 2008 5:20 AM
you should have an email address.
my ex used to have a yorkie who i loved, but i refused to walk because she would attack any dog that approached (size having nothing to do with it.) she would walk up to big dogs like as if they were going to be best freinds, & as soon as she was in striking distance, she would bite the other dog. she nipped at people as well. although there were times she would be like a loving little baby at times, she startsed fights with at least 5 dogs before i refused to walk her any more. she also bit two relatives kids when they visited, as well as a few grown ups. i'v had many dogs throughout my life, & the yorkie was the most vicious as far as attacking. i think that you are size prejudice.
Posted by lenny | April 1, 2008 8:56 AM
I understand the puppy prejudice. Definately. I had a beautiful 6 year old white red nose pitbull named Angelo. He was the sweetest most passive and caring dog I've ever seen. One day we let him outside, and one of the neighbors though it would be funny to open the gate and let in a black lab that had been sniffing around. That black lab went straight for Angelos jugular vein. We ran out there as soon as we heard any commotion but the dog had already done some damage. Angelo, not even for a minute... did not try to fight back. We rushed him to the vet and 3 days and $500 worth of vet bills later, he was well enough to come home. He recovered, but as soon as we got him home, we were told that we were being taken to court. They wanted to take him away and get him "put down" because he was a danger to the community. :( Even though he has never fought a day in his life. I asked about the black lab, and was told not to worry about the black lab, they are family dogs, and would never do such a thing. We had to find him a home on a farm to keep them from taking him away and never seeing him again.

Nicki, I think you missed the whole point of David's comment, which actually held great emotion toward the idea of being a parent which of course he cannot be, because he is a gay man.
David was not attacking anyone on that episode. He was however displaying a great emotion of sadness for society in general. He was referring to himself, that he believed he would have been a more responsible parent, not that gay lesbian's make better parents.
Maybe to some viewers it seemed that he was making a remark against heterosexuals.
But think logically, and take the time to observe Judge David's behavior and or facial expressions, and then you will understand the meaning behind those words. Obviously you misconstrue.

Dear Judge Young, I am 73 years young and i want to tell you that seeing your show is the highlight of my day. You are awesome. Did i say[i love you ? Keep up the great job. Dorothy Burcher.

How dare you say that I have a "size prejudice". LOL! Well deserved criticism my friends--thank you for educating me! Dorthy, I love you for loving me--thanks!
Just started taping for the second season. There are some major changes in the show--I love them. Looking forward to hearing your opinion of them. The new seasom doesn't start until Sept. though.

Mary Ann,
I completely understand (logically) what he was saying. It seems that my point was not taken as intended. I was trying to shine light on the destruction that political correctness has wreaked on America. My point is quid pro quo...if you want, you must also give. As I said previously that if a straight judge would have made an outwardly disparaging anti-gay comment to the litigants, there would have been a huge outcry and perhaps the show would have been pulled(need I name examples...Dog the Bounty Hunter, Don Imus to which conduct I don't condone). In the name of freedom of speech, we think it is carte blanche to be rude, disrespectful, and hateful...that is not the freedom of speech that I spent 20 years defending. I do not hate for the sake of hate. I do however use my right to disagree. Gay/Lesbians want the same respect as everyone else; they need to give it. Judge Young threw out a blanket statement about straight people and he rectified himself with his answer to me...that generalizations are WRONG, WRONG, WRONG. That was good enough for me. And as for not watching his show, I've stopped. A point is a point. I am certainly exercising my right of "if I don't like it, don't watch". Mary Ann, I appreciate your diplomacy...it's hard to communicate with people who want to throw out mean spirited words like bitch, bigot, ignorant...that's not the freedom of speech I enjoy. God bless you.

Nicki, you love Judge David like we all do. Just admit it you are wrong about him and you watch him everyday. I will admit that you might not be a bigoted bitch--a santimonious bitch but not a bigot. Just kidding girlfriend. Lighten up.

I watch Judge David Young almost daily and watching him with his decisions he seems to know what he is doing, but the episode where the Man was riding a bicycle in the middle of winter, Dec. 15, 2005 and the lady hit him, I don not agree with the way he treated the defendent. I recently was in an accident and NO police officer asked my opinion of what happened, never took names of witnesses, and wrote up his own report about what happened. My vehicle was struck on the rear passenger side tire and pushed sideways and rolled several times down the highway. I am lucky to be alive. The police report stated the other car coming from the opposite side of the highway and hitting me in the side. The other vehicle was deemed in the wrong but I was upset over the writing of the police report and all the wrong facts.
As for the defendent in this case, the Judge never gave her a chance to show her pictures or explain what happened in the other court case that was dismissed against the plaintiff because the police report stated that she hit him.
Needless to say, he has lost all credibility with me and I will no longer view his program.

Phyllis, unfortunately they had to cut out a lot of what I heard. In fact, the Defendant produced a police report which was contrary to what she said in Court. I hope that I can win you back! Thanks for writing. David

Dear JDY,
Speaking of "Pop Justice," I would love to read your honest opinions regarding some of your fellow TV Judges...
------------------
1) Judge Joe Brown
2) Judge Christina (from "Christina's Court")
3) Judge Dredd (I'M JUST KIDDING!)
3) Judge Alex Ferrer
4) Judge Hatchett
5) Judge Mills Lane
6) Judge Greg Mathis
7) Judges Jerry and Judy Shiendlin
----------------------------------
As for myself, I've always considered you the Bar Association's answer to Richard Simmons...since you're zealous, upbeat and indomitable - and since you display genuine concern for your litigants.
Thanks for responding,
Pat

Judge David, the more I see of your repeats the more I can see the amazing man behind the camera. Others have told me they see it as well. I'd love to point out these incredible things about you which come off on camera, but I'd rather talk about it with you in person , because what I see boggles the mind. So we'll just wait until the fall.

I watch as often as I can - alas, that isn't quite often. I think the show is entertaining as well as informative to those who may not understand certain aspects of the courtroom or justice system as a whole. I'm 18 and I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia last year and told that I had been misdiagnosed with Juvenile Onset R.A. since the age of 7. Prior to that, my mother had doctors tell her that her daughter [myself] had Leukemia. My life in and out of hospitals and tests has been scary as well as painful. I work at a Retail Store here in South Carolina that does not offer medical insurance, and I will soon be taken off of my parents because I am not a full time student - I missed a lot of school, including taking my SAT. I'll be taking it this summer, and hopefully returning to school at a University to major in Speech Pathology in the Spring. That leaves me without health insurance for the fall semester. We've found several things that deny Fibromyalgia rendering disability [for the actual disease, i've found that if you do get disability for any period of time, it is for chronic widespread body pain, and that it is hard to get re-hire eligibility afterwards] if you are out of work. I'm unsure if my body will let me work and go to school, and until I'm in school I will not have insurance to cover my medical expenses. I have a Ruematologist at MUSC and I go to Physical Therapy. I trust and respect your opinion, and a friend of mine and I even want to find a way to travel and see your show - even meet you if we can. I want to know if my mom and I have found the right stuff, or if there is a way to lengthen my insurance until I can get into school. If you read all of this and respond, thank you. You are a really great man and Judge.

Just caught your show for the first time. I know that NMB helped produce a lawyer but I never realized an entertainer. It appears that you still stand up for what you think. That apparently hasn't changed and I applaud you for it.My best wishes for continued success. I couldn't find an e-mail address so I'm sure that you will see this.As you might have guessed I am enjoying my retirement..

Mr. Weiner, it is wonderful hearing from you. Everyone needs to know that you were my high school principal. If we had more Marvin Weiner's in the school systems throughout our nation, our young people would be getting an A+ education. Glad you are enjoying retirement. David

Kerrie, I salute you. You are a hero. Unfortunately we do not provide health care for everyone. That is just wrong--did I say it's wrong--it's wrong. I am hopeful that the next President of the USA will make insuring all Americans his highest priority. The 2 candidates provide very different solutions to this major problem. Try calling your parents insurance administrator and see if they can extend your coverage. It can't hurt. Please keep me posted.
I would love to meet you! If you come to NYC to see a taping, please let me know. You (and everyone else) can go to my website at JudgeDavidYoung.com and order tickets. Hugs superstar! David

Judge David--you were robbed. You have the best Judge show and that Christina is so damn boring. I am so mad--I love you and Tawya. Don't feel too badly. Your fans think you are #1.
Posted by Jena Simons | June 21, 2008 8:39 AM
Jena, and everyone here on this panel, everyone knows including the Daytime Emmy awards cameramen know who the real winner was . As I let David in on some important inside information that after Christina accepted the award, the camera focused on Judge David, no one else, not even Judge Judy was paid any attention to during the show.
All I can suggest...join as a member of The people's choice award, and vote for Judge David. He deserves our support, and that's the best way we can give it that really counts in tv land.
We Love You! JD! XOXOXOXOXO

Unbelievable, this Judge is a joke. He is very unprofessional. One minute he is a serious Judge the next a flamboyantly gay want-to-be comedian. He thinks he's clever with his stupid comments, but really he usually doesn't make any sense. He's more of a want-to-be actor than he will ever be a good Judge. Today, he even referred to himself as Uncle Judge David. That just proves how he has turned his courtroom into a joke. He shows no respect for other people and makes a joke of the Justice system. I will never watch this circus of a show again.

Honey, get real, our court system is a big joke. David is a real human being behind the robe. Get get over it. The show is produced for fun as well as to learn about law.
David I would love to be in your company. We will have a lot to talk about when we finally get to meet. I am beginning to find more work, so perhaps I will have the income and time off this fall to take that trip to New York.

Jena and Mary Ann thank you for your loyalty and love. It means so much. As for Ryan, I am sorry that you do not understand why I do what I do. But keep watching and maybe you will get it. I hope so.

Dar Judge David Young,
I love your show and I think you're fabulous!!
There's an article in today's London Times that you might want to take a look at - it's unfortunately a story about the decline in the penguin population. I didn't know whether you had seen it or not and though you might want to be made aware of it.

David, Its so funny, everytime I saw your show, I just new it was you. I kept telling my friends, I know that guy. We went to school together since elementary. I enjoyed reading about your successes and wish you the best. Even prouder that you stand up for what you believe in and are not afraid to express it. Go class President, Karen

Judge Young,
Like so many others, I love you, too. BUT something about your courtroom demeanor really bothers me. I am not a bigot or a religious fanatic. I believe in God but I don't push it on others. I also have very close gay friends. What's bothering me is that it's very difficult for me to respect you as a judge, which I don't like because I know you are so passionate about being a judge. The thing is....we KNOW you're gay and we KNOW you're very happy and proud to be gay. I have no problem with that. I DO, however, have a problem with the sexual innuendos that you frequently make. I do not think those kinds of comments should be made in a courtroom. To me, it's very unprofessional. Nor does it help, when there ARE so many bigots, for you to keep throwing your lifestyle in their face. Yes, I am older, a grandmothe
