VOOMing on the Croisette

Over the next week, we'll be moving through the market scouting opportunities for Voom HD Networks, a suite of 15 HD channels distributed through the Dish Network in the U.S., and for Voom HD Global, our 24/7 HD channel on the air in Europe and (in a matter of days) Asia.
As the General Manager of the service, I'll be leading a team comprised of program buyers, commissioners and business development specialists who are looking to buy, co-produce, or commission content, as well as to explore opportunities for launching our pioneering HD service throughout the world.
This blog will tap into conversations we're having with over 150 companies who contribute to some aspect of our day-to-day activities—producers, distributors, satellite and cable platforms, technology companies, and the others that enable our global commerce. Throughout the week, I'll try to shed light on trends that we're seeing in the market... particularly as they relate to HDTV production and distribution.
We're heading to Cannes tonight, arriving Saturday for MIPDOC and to get our "sea legs" before the marathon of meetings, meals, and the melange of late-night shenanigans that are MIPTV.
