No ‘Secret’ Here: ABC Family Show Exits on High Note

A surprise ratings success, ABC Family’s “The Secret Life of the American Teenager” wrapped up its first season with the show’s highest numbers in key female demographics.
Pulling down a 3.7 rating/14 share in the 18- to 34-year-old demo, according to Nielsen Media Research, “Teenager” surpassed The CW’s “90210” in that key advertising arena Tuesday.
“Teenager” aired opposite “90210,” meaning the Beverly Hills drama may see an increase next week in that demo thanks to the lack of competition.
Taking a 1.8/5 in the 18- to 49-year-old age group and 4.2 million viewers, “Teenager” ruled the night.
On FX, “The Shield” tumbled from last week’s low-rated premiere by 20%, ending with a 0.8/2, the show’s lowest rating ever.
