Ratings Chart Attack!

Fox’s “So You Think You Can Dance” continued to strut into the top spot Thursday night, posting a slight gain over last week’s Thursday performance. On ABC, the annual telecast of the Scripps-Howard National Spelling Bee posted also posted a gain compared to last year.

Fox’s “Dance” scored a 3.6 rating/11 share among adults 18-49 and pulled in 9.1 million viewers, according to preliminary Nielsen figures. Last night’s episode posted a 6% gain over its season premiere last week and ranked as the top show of the night. From first to final half hour, “Dance” increased by 41% in the 18-49 demographic.

On ABC, the Scripps-Howard National Spelling Bee (1.5/5, 5.5 million) was the only other new program of the night. From 8 p.m.-10 p.m., last night’s telecast posted a 25% increase over last year’s telecast (which was on a Friday night), but declined by 25% from its most recent Thursday-night broadcast two years ago. Numbers, however, are approximate, since the Bee aired until 10:16 p.m., skewing comparisons. A repeat of “Grey’s Anatomy” rounded off the night for the network.

CBS aired repeats of “NCIS,” “CSI” and “Without a Trace.” NBC went with comedy repeats of “My Name Is Earl,” “30 Rock,” “The Office,” another “30 Rock” and an hour-long “The Office” in the 10 p.m. hour. The CW aired encores of “Smallville” and “Supernatural.”

For the night: Fox (3.6/11, 9.1 million) won, followed by CBS (2.0/6, 9.7 million), ABC (1.5/4, 5.4 million), NBC (1.4/4, 3.4 million) and The CW (0.5/2, 1.4 million).
