China Central Television, the state-sponsored national network for the most populous country on earth, is enjoying a ratings bonanza during the Olympics that would make NBC’s numbers seem minuscule in comparison, the New York Times reports. At least 80% of Chinese households tune in to some broadcasts, helping clear the way for just under $400 million in advertising revenue for the network. The Opening Ceremony two weeks ago was perhaps the most viewed single event in television history, with an estimated 840 million Chinese tuning in.
