Bill Burke Writes the Book on Turner

Nov 10, 2008  •  Post A Comment

Bill Burke, who worked for Turner Broadcasting and ran the Weather Channel, has collaborated with Ted Turner on an autobiography called “Call Me Ted,” the New York Times says. “The good thing for me is that Ted likes to spend his free time on the incredibly beautiful properties he owns,” says Mr. Burke, who left the business world to raise his family in Maine. “We would have breakfast together, then he would go fishing and I would go fishing. Then he’d come back and he’d say, ‘O.K. Burke, let’s work.'”

  1. Bill Burke was one of the most delightful and brightest execs I ever worked with at Turner, and I wish him — and Mr. Turner — well with this new book! Ted Turner’s story is broadcasting legend, and all the folks out there who are living off what Ted started owe him a huge debt of gratitude. He was the pioneer…we just followed in his tracks.
