The Federal Communications Commission approved the use of the area between broadcast TV signals—known as “white space”—for new wireless devices, TelevisionWeek reports. While high-tech companies including Google and Microsoft says the decision will hasten the rise of a “wi-fi on steroids,” broadcasters are worried that the devices could interfere with their picture quality.
