HBO Wins Obama Documentary Rights

Nov 6, 2008  •  Post A Comment

HBO has acquired the rights to a documentary following President-elect Barack Obama, which will premiere in 2009 on the network, Broadcasting & Cable reports. The film, produced by Edward Norton’s Class 5 Films, is still in production with camera crews following Obama since his trip to Africa in the summer of 2006. According to HBO, camera crews have had “unprecedented access to Obama, his senior campaign staff, family, friends and volunteers.” Permission to film Obama was granted after his decision to run for president. Director Amy Rice had asked months prior to the senator’s decision to run for president, B&C says.

  1. Very cool. Maybe now someone will actually look into Obama’s past. Can we revote if we don’t like what we see? Hey, I’d love to see the birth certificate issue resolved. Think HBO will go there? Nope. My guess is that it’ll be another fluff piece on this clown. If it turns out to be otherwise, (a real look into the candidates life) I’d be impressed.

  2. Oh Donna, you know it will be glowing and and triumphant, and “presidential.” It will show his humble beginnings, growing up in Hawaii and rising up to become president against all odds. I guarantee not one word will be said about how he paid his outrageous tuitions (or if they do, they won’t show documentation), they will not mention that he was a muslim in Indonesia who attended hardcore muslim training after school, they won’t mention that he traveled to Pakistan (when American’s were not supposed to travel there) on an Indonesian passport, they won’t mention his past radical friends, it won’t mention his dear family mentioned so lovingly in his books who are living illegally in the US in gov’t housing below poverty level. What I can guarantee you is that it will be as whitewashed as unenlightening as his campaign. I think the correct term for it should be “mockumentary” not documentary. Unless of course it’s directed by Michael Moore. Then it would be a “documentary” that wins Oscar’s even though it’s factually proven to be incorrect.

  3. Wow, you two really have OD’d on the kool-aid.
Stop reading Free Republic and learn the truth. You sound like the tin foil hatters that you all accuse the left of being.
