Hollywood Expects Slow Holiday DVD Sales

Nov 13, 2008  •  Post A Comment

With DVD sales and rentals already down by 2% during the first half of the year, Advertising Age reports Hollywood isn’t counting on the special-edition DVD box set to help its bottom line in these tough economic times. The publication doesn’t predict the new, definitive box set of “The Sopranos” box will sell well due to the $400 price tag and the amount of material that’s already included in previous releases. With Circuit City filing for bankruptcy protection this week, the holiday season looks grim for this once-dependable cash cow, AdAge says.
