Brian Lawlor will take over the top spot at Scripps TV group when Bill Peterson retires at the end of the year, TVNewsday reports. Mr. Lawlor has 20 years of experience in the broadcasting industry and currently acts as the corporate VP of sales for Scripps’ TV division, the Web sites says. “Brian inherits a strong and aggressive group of stations thanks to Bill Peterson. Since Bill took over the division in 2004, the portfolio of Scripps TV stations has outperformed its markets, and that’s largely attributable to Bill’s vision and innovation,” Rich Boehne, president and CEO of Scripps, said in a statement. Scripps owns ten stations in nine markets, including Detroit’s WXYZ-TV, the Web site notes.
