MTV is planning to hold an inaugural celebration that will feature live musical acts and stories from volunteers to encourage people to give donate their time to schools, churches and community institutions, TelevisionWeek says. The network is working with the organization ServiceNation on the event. “Over the last year and culminating in this election, we have seen a groundswell of engagement and a refreshed spirit of activism from young people,” said Stephen Friedman, general manager of MTV.
