President-elect Barack Obama is expected to appoint Washington lawyer Henry Rivera as head of his Federal Communications Commission transition team, Multichannel News reports. Rivera, a Democrat, previously served at the FCC from 1981 to 1985 under Republican FCC chairman Mark Fowler and was a partner at the same law firm where current FCC chairman Kevin Martin formerly worked. During a phone interview with B&C, Rivera said, “The only thing I can tell you is that there will be a release of the folks involved in that. I just can’t comment on anything. They told us not to talk to the press.”
