Tribune Gets Creative in Hard Times

Nov 12, 2008  •  Post A Comment

When faced with a looming recession and a mountain of debt, cost-cutting, hiring freezes and lay offs aren’t the only ways to get out of the red. Tribune, as TVNewsday reports, is getting creative in how it deals with the financial crisis. One example is Tribune’s decision to turn over its CW stations in Denver and St. Louis to Local TV’s Fox affiliates in those markets back in September. The company also beefs up personnel and news programming in key markets, something TVNewsday calls “spending money to make money.”
