TV Talent Working Overtime to Help Sponsors

Daily Variety takes a look at the recent trend of television anchors and actors doubling as pitchmen of products ranging from cars to food. Sometimes the pitches aren’t even done during commercial breaks, either, but during program airtime. The paper cites Lara Spencer, of the syndicated entertainment news show “The Insider,” shilling for Bertolli during CBS’ prime-time schedule while Fox NFL analysts Michael Strahan and Terry Bradshaw took a break from the game to demonstrate the legroom and capacity of a Ford truck as examples.
