ABC’s owned-and-operated New York City station, WABC-TV, is getting creative with its afternoon newscasts, the New York Daily News reports. The station has so far aired four live half-hour specials at 5:30 in which it sent reporters to different parts of the city and put its anchors in out-of-studio locations. Wednesday’s report, for example, featured anchors Diana Williams and Sade Baderinwa broadcasting from a mall. The newspaper says the station is adding to its newscasts when many are cutting back due to the faltering economy.
