Accused Letterman Blackmailer Said He Needed Money to Visit His Son AP
Producer Robert J. "Joe" Halderman, who is accused of trying to blackmail David Letterman for $2 million, told the comedian’s lawyer that he needed the money in order to visit his son, the Associated Press reported.
Prosecutors said that in secretly taped conversations when the alleged deal was being negotiated, Halderman also said he would call the transaction a business deal, and worried about a possible tax audit.

Dave's life is Dave's life and this Joe guy should have left it alone.
Halderman had a great career with CBS News. Now he's blown that and faces possible hard time as an inmate of the State of New York.
Hopefully the Court will get it right and that will be the end of this unnecessary exercise.
Have a good holiday Dave. Joe, get your affairs in order as you will soon have a new official residence.
