Retrans Battle Between TWC and News Corp. Crucial to Future of Broadcast TV B&C

The outcome of the tough retransmission consent negotiation going on between Time Warner Cable and News Corp. over the Fox-owned stations, cable networks and regional sports networks could determine the future health of broadcast television, B&C reports.

“Whatever they agree to with Fox, they have to agree to with all four networks,” one industry executive told B&C.

With broadcast TV in trouble, the money stations could get for their signals could improve their fortunes.
