'West Wing' Alum Cast in NBC Legal Drama THR

The President is going to back to his roots as a lawyer.

Former "West Wing" President Jimmy Smits has signed on to star in an untitled new legal drama series for NBC, reports The Hollywood Reporter. 

The pilot concerns a Supreme Court Justice who leaves the bench to form a law firm that will argue constitutional legal issues. 

Smits first became a TV star playing the role of attorney Victor Sifuentes on the well-remembered NBC must-see "LA Law." It's also the role that made him an Emmy-winner.
