The winter storm that has chilled much of the country is having a different effect on The Weather Channel, which has seen its ratings heat up.

The network announced Tuesday that it reached more total viewers over the holiday weekend (Dec. 25-26) than any news network, and on Sunday TWC had its highest total-day performance of the year.

TWC’s digital platforms have also surged. The company’s iPad app had its biggest day ever on Sunday, with more than 3.8 million page views. The Weather Channel for iPhone app increased 117% Sunday over its daily average for the month, setting another record.

Among the highlights for the TV network, based on Nielsen figures, Sunday’s average was TWC’s highest total-day performance of the year in adults 25-54, with average total day delivery in the demo up 121% over month-to-date figures. TWC was the top news network in the morning (7-11 a.m.) on both Saturday and Sunday in adults 25-54, and reached 45 million total viewers over the weekend, more than any news network.
