‘Glee’ Christmas Ep Tops Tuesday Ratings, Pushes Fox to Overall Win

The final fresh episode of Fox’s "Glee" until the Super Bowl, a special Christmas show, was a big hit in the Tuesday night Nielsens, reports TVbytheNumbers.com. “Glee” was the top show of the night in the 18-49 demo, and Fox won the night overall in the demo with an average rating of 3.3, beating NBC (2.7), ABC (2.0), Univision (1.7) and CBS (1.7).

CBS was No. 1 in total viewers for the night, fueled by strong turnouts for repeat episodes of “NCIS” and “NCIS: Los Angeles.” CBS averaged 9.7 million viewers for the evening, topping Fox (8.3 million), NBC (7.8 million), ABC (7.0 million) and Univision (4.2 million).

At 8 p.m. "Glee" averaged a 4.35 rating in the 18-49 demo for the hour, besting ABC’s rebroadcast of "A Charlie Brown Christmas" with a mean score of 2.6 in the same demo. NBC’s "Minute to Win It" had an average of 1.9 in the 18-49 demo and CW’s "One Tree Hill" trailed with an average of 1.0 in the same demo for the hour.

At 9 p.m. the first hour of NBC’s "The Biggest Loser" delivered an average of 2.95 in the 18-49 demo, while Fox’s "Raising Hope" and "Running Wilde" logged a 2.9 rating and a 1.7, respectively, in the same demo. ABC’s "No Ordinary Family" was steady with a 1.9 in the 18-49 demo for the hour, and CW’s "Life Unexpected" had a 0.85 average rating in the same demo.

The top show at 10 p.m. was the second hour of "The Biggest Loser" with a 3.15 average in the 18-49 demo, ahead of ABC’s "Detroit 1-8-7," which had a 1.4 mean score in the 18-49 demo for the hour.
