The latest addition to the Fox pilot "Outnumbered" is an actor who carved out a stoner identity as part of a popular counterculture comedy team in the 1970s before going on to a solid career in television and film, reports Deadline.com.

The actor is Cheech Marin, who gained fame as half of the comedy duo Cheech & Chong. The pilot, which stars "Ugly Betty’s" Ana Ortiz and Cliff Chamberlain, will be directed by Larry Charles, who was one of the main writers on “Seinfeld.”

The Fox show is a sitcom based on a BBC comedy about a couple who are in over their heads caring for their three kids.

Marin recently reunited with partner Tommy Chong for a major comedy tour, but in the past few decades he has become known more for his work on TV shows such as “Nash Bridges” and the “Golden Girls” spinoff “The Golden Palace,” and in Robert Rodriguez films including “Machete.”

Marin will play Ortiz’s father, who believes in taking pills for all ailments. Most recently, Marin had a recurring role on ABC’s "Lost."
