In a moment of unabashed loyalty to his "Modern Family" co-star Sofia Vergara, actor Ed O'Neill declared that "Glee's" Jane Lynch was undeserving of the Emmy she won over Vergara, TV Guide Canada reports.

O'Neill was not nominated for his role on “Modern Family,” but the show took the Emmy for outstanding comedy series over "Glee." He told a gaggle of international journalists that Lynch's “Glee” character is essentially "a one-note role."

He said, "I love Jane--honestly, I do. I'm dying to star in one of [screenwriter and director] Christopher Guest's movies alongside her. But I don't think she should have gotten the Emmy for that part."

When asked who should have won instead, O'Neill named his co-star, Vergara. "Sofia is just so, so funny,” he said. “I don't think people realize how hilarious she is. She's so sharp with her wit, it's amazing."
