The past year proved to be the worst prime-time performance for the cable news network in both total viewers and adults 25 to 54 since at least 1996, the story says.

In prime time, the network was down 34% from its 2009 figures in both total viewers and the demographic. The average prime-time audience for the network was 591,000, with 173,000 viewers 25 to 54 on average watching during those hours, the story notes.
