Three Networks in Tight Battle for Thursday Ratings

The tight season-long battle continues for the top spot in the always closely watched Thursday night Nielsens, with CBS, ABC and NBC finishing the night closely bunched in the 18-49 demo, TVbytheNumbers.com reports.

CBS, led by “Big Bang Theory,” came out a little bit ahead of the others with a 2.9 average rating in 18-49, followed by ABC (2.7 rating) and NBC (2.6). Fox was a respectable fourth with a 2.1 average.

In total viewers it was CBS, with an average of 12.4 million, and ABC, with 10.8 million, well ahead of the pack. Fox finished a distant third with 7.0 million, followed by NBC with 5.7 million.

At 8 p.m. "Big Bang" scored a 3.8 in the 18-49 demographic, while CBS’s "$#*! My Dad Says" earned a 2.7 in the same demo at 8:30 p.m. Fox’s "Bones" averaged a 2.35 in the 18-49 demo, while NBC’s "Community" and "30 Rock" had a 2.0 rating and a 2.2, respectively, in that demo. CW’s "The Vampire Diaries" was last with a 1.25 in the 18-49 demo.

A one-hour "The Office" on NBC averaged a 3.75 in the 18-49 demo for the 9 p.m. time slot, while CBS’s "CSI" had a 3.05 in the same demo. ABC’s "Barbara Walters Special" netted a 2.95 in the 18-49 demo and Fox’s "Fringe" had a 1.95 in 18-49, with CW’s "Nikita" in last place with a 0.8 in the same demo.

At 10 p.m. "Barbara Walters Presents" earned an average 3.2 rating in the 18-49 demo for ABC, while CBS’s "The Mentalist" was second with a 2.45 in the demo and NBC’s season finale of "The Apprentice" managed just a 1.8 in the 18-49 demo for the hour.
