Writers Guild Sends Out Its Wish List for TV and Film Negotiations, Set to Begin in Early 2011 LA Times

The Writers Guild of America on Wednesday sent out to its more than 10,000 members its "pattern of demands," or its bargaining goals that members will vote on by Jan. 24, reports the Los Angeles Times' Company Town blog.

The demands will set the union's goals for television and film negotiations with the studios, which are expected to begin in early 2011, the story notes. The guild's current contract expires on May 1.

Previous negotiations ended in a 100-day strike, as the sides struggled to agree on how to pay for work distributed over new media.

The guild's goals this time around focus on what the article says are more traditional union priorities, such as increases in wages and improved working conditions.
