With all the major networks covering the same live event Tuesday night–President Obama’s State of the Union address–the overnight ratings remain subject to more than the usual adjustments when final numbers come in. But with that in mind, NBC was No. 1 for the night in the 18-49 demo, while CBS came out on top in total viewers, according to TVbytheNumbers.com.

NBC finished prime time with a 2.4 average rating in viewers 18-49, ahead of CBS (1.7 average rating), Fox (1.3), Univision (1.2) and ABC (1.2). CBS averaged 9.3 million total viewers, beating NBC (7.8 million), ABC (5.2 million), Fox (3.9 million) and Univision (3.3 million).

At 8 p.m. NBC’s "The Biggest Loser" scored a 3.0 average rating in the 18-49 demographic, while CW’s "One Tree Hill" logged a 0.9 in the same demo. CBS, Fox and ABC aired reruns.

At 9 p.m. NBC’s coverage of the State of the Union had a 2.3 average rating in the 18-49 demo, compared with CBS’s 1.7, ABC’s 1.6, and Fox’s 1.3, all in the same demo. CW’s "Hellcats" earned a 0.9 in the 18-49 demo.

The second hour of coverage at 10 p.m. was also won by NBC with a 2.0 rating and a 1.4, respectively, for the top and bottom halves of the hour–including a post-address analysis during the 10:30 half-hour–in the same 18-49 demo. CBS’s coverage from 10-10:30 logged a 1.4, the same as ABC’s coverage for the same time period. Both CBS and ABC aired repeat programming at 10:30.
