A sitcom that last aired on broadcast and drew only 1.8 million viewers during the 2008-09 season premiered Tuesday night to a staggering audience of 7.7 million on cable channel BET, Entertainment Weekly reported.

The show is the former CW series “The Game,” produced by Kelsey Grammer and starring Tia Mowry Hardrict. The football-related comedy was canceled by CW after performing poorly in its Friday night time slot.

Airing after “The Game” on BET Tuesday, the new comedy “Let’s Stay Together” attracted a respectable 4.4 million viewers.

Over on FX, the news wasn’t as good, as the new boxing show “Lights Out” saw only about 1.5 million viewers for its premiere, Entertainment Weekly reports.

The story notes that the number is on par with the 1.6 million viewers for “Terriers,” which has been canceled, and is well short of the 4.2 million for last year’s premiere of “Justified.”
