Watchdog Group Urges Advertisers to Boycott Fox News Channel

The watchdog group Media Matters has turned its attention to a campaign that targets advertisers on Fox News Channel, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

According to the progressive group’s new boycott site, DropFox.com, its first targeted advertiser is Orbitz Worldwide. Media Matters is starting with Orbitz because the online travel company has welcomed lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgendered people, a group Media Matters claims Fox News maligns.

Fox News didn’t respond to requests for comment, while a spokesman for Orbitz said Media Matters is "completely off base," the piece says.

Media Matters recently declared victory when Glenn Beck announced he was leaving Fox News after the group took aim at conservative news and talk hosts.

  1. Yeah, like “Media Matters” is a “Watchdog” group. You should have said a “Far Left Bunch of Crazies” urges the boycott, then that would have been “Fair and Balanced”!

  2. I’m in marketing and a conservative that can’t stand the crap that comes out of CNN and MSNBC. But I have clients utilize those two networks. This is a land of freedom where businesses can choose on their own where they want to reach consumers. It doesn’t mean they’re taking a political side or endorsing a host and network. Ultimately, the consumers decide. Guess this is a concept a little too simple for “Media Morons”.
