Olbermann and Current TV Have Different Takes on What’s Up With Their Dispute

Current TV host Keith Olbermann, whose status at the network has been in negotiations, announced to his Twitter followers that he will be "running the election coverage on Current, after New Hampshire," reports the Los Angeles Times’ Show Tracker blog. The network, however, was less definite about what’s going on, according to the story.

“Keith has agreed to do special election coverage following New Hampshire," a network representative said, according to the piece. "We hope it comes to pass, and we’re looking forward to it.”

Olbermann’s status at Current has been the subject of negotiations between attorneys for each side, as reported previously.

Olbermann would executive produce and host the network’s election coverage, although it’s unclear what that means, the story says.

"It’s possible it may consist of hours of coverage on primary nights. Or, it may be contained in just the regular hour of Olbermann’s regular show ‘Countdown’ — which presumably would make the coverage not ‘special’ at all," the story points out.

The past week brought a public standoff between Olbermann and his employers at Current, which the host joined last year after falling out with MSNBC brass, the piece notes.

Current said it had asked him to cover the Iowa caucuses, but that he refused without providing a reason, the story adds.
