With the death this week of pop star Davy Jones, a member of the quartet created by NBC as a TV singing group called "The Monkees," the Biography Channel will honor Jones and the 1960s group with two hours of programming tonight.

At 8 p.m. the channel will show "Biography: The Monkees," which documents how NBC created the music group, hiring four actor-musicians to become the pre-Fab Four, TV’s answer to the Beatles.

At 9 p.m. "Biography Remembers: Davy Jones" will focus specifically on Davy, from his English roots through his rise as a musical star on Broadway in "Oliver" and then as one of the singers in the Monkees.

Public memorials for Jones are reportedly being planned in New York and the U.K., although no schedules have yet been announced. Jones is expected to be buried in Florida.

Jones died Wednesday of a heart attack at 66, as previously reported.
