ESPN Leads Sports Emmy Nominations

The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) announced the nominations for the 33rd Annual Sports Emmy Awards today, with ESPN’s network of channels leading the way with 55 nominations, reports Deadline.com. NBC Sports Group had 32; CBS networks 26 and Turner Sports 22.

Jack Whitaker, veteran sports essayist and commentator, will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award for Sports. In a statement, NATAS Chairman Malachy Wienges said, “I had the pleasure of working with Jack for 18 years at CBS, and Jack is a sports icon and a class act.”

The awards will be given out April 30 at the Frederick P. Rose Hall, Home of Jazz at Lincoln Center located in the Time Warner Center in New York City.
