The Primetime Emmy Awards named a familiar late-night host to emcee this year’s awards ceremony, EW.com reports. Jimmy Kimmel, the star and exec producer of ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” will do the honors.

The 64th Primetime Emmy Awards are scheduled for Sept. 23, to be broadcast live on ABC from L.A.’s Nokia Theatre. It will be Kimmel’s first time as host of the event, following gigs hosting the American Music Awards and the ESPY Awards.

Said Kimmel: ”I hope to be able to do for the Emmys this year what Eddie Murphy did for the Oscars,” a reference to the comedian who pulled out after being named to host this year’s Academy Awards.

The story adds that Don Mischer will executive produce the Emmys broadcast for the 12th time.
