Starz Renews Series Before Its Premiere — Again

Starz has given a series renewal to a show that hasn’t yet premiered, Deadline.com reports. In a similar move to last season’s handling of “Boss” — the Kelsey Grammer political drama — the pay cable net picked up "Magic City" for a second season in advance of its April 6 premiere.

"Magic City" is set in Miami in the early 1960s, soon after Castro takes control over Cuba and closes down the tourist trade in Havana. Jeffrey Dean Morgan stars in the show, which was created by Mitch Glazer.

Starz has reportedly sold "Magic City" into 70 territories internationally.

The pilot will be previewed March 30 on Starz after the season finale of "Spartacus: Vengeance."
