Which Cable Net Is No. 1 in Adults 18-49? How About Younger Adults? And Young Boys? Hint: They’re All Owned by the Same Company

With a preliminary ratings report in for the first quarter of 2012, one company is touting a number of significant achievements among its various cable networks.

Turner Research spotlighted key ratings success stories among various Turner Broadcasting channels, including TBS, Adult Swim, Cartoon Network, truTV, TNT and CNN.

TBS came in as the top basic cable network in prime time in the key demo of adults 18-49, and also in adults 18-34, the company reported.

Adult Swim was No. 1 on basic cable in young adults, including experiencing the best February in its history in adults 18-34 and adults 18-24.

Cartoon Network was to top network on all of television in the early-evening period (7-9 p.m.) in three key boys demos: 2-11, 6-11 and 9-14. Cartoon also was No. 1 in total day among boys 6-11 and boys 9-14.

truTV was headed for its best quarter in history in men 18-49, ranking in the top 10 among entertainment networks in that category.

TNT showed strong growth for its NBA coverage along with growth for its key drama series “Southland.”

The good news for the cable news channels included HLN’s achievement as the only cable news network to experience growth in prime time over the year-ago quarter, and CNN’s news that it continues to reach more viewers than any other cable news channel.
