Nicholas Sparks, the bestselling author whose novels include "The Notebook," "Dear John" and "The Lucky One" — all turned into movies — has signed a first-look deal with Warner Horizon Television, which primarily makes shows for cable TV, Deadline.com reports. Warner Horizon is a division of Warner Bros. TV.

The projects, by Sparks and his collaborator, Theresa Park, "will bring to television many of the core elements of my books and films: romantic love, family bonds, and the universal human dramas that move us all,” Sparks said, according to the Deadline story, written by our friend Nellie Andreeva.

The projects won’t include shows written by Sparks, although they’ll go through his newly created Nicholas Sparks Productions, the piece notes. Park is president of production for the new company, which will develop and produce both TV and film projects, the story adds.
