A former "Daily Show" correspondent will host the 2012 ESPY Awards, which honor the best in sports, according to The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed.

Rob Riggle, a sports fan and U.S. Marine Corps reserve lieutenant colonel, will join guests including former hosts Lance Armstrong, Justin Timberlake and Samuel L. Jackson, the story says.

The show will be televised live on ESPN and ESPN HD on July 11.

"The ESPYs are proud to support Disney’s Heroes Work Here program and we’re honored to have a Marine Corps officer serve as this year’s host,” ESPN Executive Vice President of Programming and Acquisitions Norby Williamson said in a statement, according to the story.
