Fox News has sent a letter to former "O’Reilly Factor" associate producer Joe Muto, who was paid by Gawker to provide anonymous intel on the network, informing him that his actions are "likely criminal," reports TVNewser.

“It’s now in the hands of our lawyers and law enforcement given that a crime has been committed," a Fox News representative said, according to the story.

As previously reported, Muto identified himself as the mole after getting fired, with Fox News tracking a digital trail to confirm his identity.

The letter from law firm Epstein Becker & Green advises Muto to "immediately stop providing information and videos to Gawker … [and] immediately stop writing columns based on information that you unlawfully obtained while employed at Fox News. You should also immediately take all necessary steps to preserve all documents and information that may be relevant to your hire and employment at Gawker," according to the story.
