New Show to Transplant Five Amish People to NYC NY Post
A new reality show will take five Amish people and transplant them in New York City, reports the New York Post. Called "Breaking Amish," the TLC show will "allow them the opportunity to go out and experience a lifestyle that’s completely different from theirs," according to TLC General Manager Amy Winter.
The show will start taping in early May in Pennsylvania and Ohio, with the series scheduled to debut later this year. The participants will move into Manhattan hotels and start to mix with the "English," the term the Amish use for outsiders, the piece adds.
Some of the participants have expressed the wish to pursue the career dreams they've held, and some may look for apartments as well as start dressing "English," Winter said, according to the article.
