A "seasoned" NBC producer was responsible for the editing of a misleading clip of a 911 call that gave the impression shooter George Zimmerman was engaging in racial profiling, reports Reuters.

An internal NBC News probe into the incident interviewed more than half a dozen employees, the story notes. There’s no indication whether any disciplinary actions will be taken against the producer or other staff who were involved, the piece adds.

The producer’s actions weren’t deliberate, but were described as a "very bad mistake," according to the article. NBC News declined to comment and said it wouldn’t release the names of the employees involved.

As previously reported, NBC apologized for the incident. In the original report, Zimmerman was heard to say, "This guy looks like he’s up to no good. He looks black."

The actual call included this exchange:

Zimmerman: "This guy looks like he’s up to no good, or he’s on drugs or something. It’s raining and he’s just walking around, looking about."

911 Operator: "OK. And this guy, is he white, black or Hispanic?"

Zimmerman: "He looks black."
