Another 'Saturday Night Live' Cast Member Is Leaving the Show NY Times
A cast member on "Saturday Night Live" is leaving the NBC late-night sketch comedy program, The New York Times reports. Andy Samberg, who joined the show in 2005, confirmed he will leave when his contract is up at the end of this season.
The news comes two weeks after the show’s send-off to cast member Kristen Wiig, as previously reported.
“It’s an incredibly emotional and strange moment in my life,” Samberg said, according to the report. “Obviously it’s not a huge shock, but I did officially decide not to come back.”
Leaving was "one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever made,” Samberg said, adding that he made the decision with some advice from Wiig. "She kept saying it just feels like it’s her time. I connect with that. Something about it just feels like it’s the moment. My contract’s up and I did so much more than I ever thought I would ever even do.”
Soon after he joined the show, Samberg created a video called "Lazy Sunday" that became a viral hit. The rap video featured Samberg and Chris Parnell as two geeks on their way to watch the film "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.” Here it is:
