The California Department of Motor Vehicles has been hit with a lawsuit by Ashton Kutcher’s production company for allegedly pulling out of a reality television series deal, reports Deadline.com.

The lawsuit was filed Tuesday in Los Angeles Superior Court and alleges that the DMV breached its contract with Kutcher’s Katalyst Media and Soda and Pop Inc. The suit is seeking $1.4 million in damages.

The suit claims the DMV committed in writing to collaborating with Katalyst on the series in June 2010, but six weeks later allegedly “abruptly and without justifiable excuse, changed course."

The series was set to focus on the employees and customers of the DMV in “humanizing and entertaining” situations, the piece adds.
