Former President's Head Edited Out of 'Game of Thrones' -- Here's the New Deconstructed Version Washington Post
A prop head that resembled former President George W. Bush has been edited out of the online version of "Game of Thrones," reports The Washington Post's Celebritology blog.
The head is now "as nondescript as possible, resembling no one famous," the story notes.
As previously reported, HBO issued an apology after the head was pointed out in the DVD commentary of the season one boxed set. The company also blocked the availability of the episode online and halted shipments of the season one set.
Creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss said the use of the Bush lookalike wasn't a political statement, noting, "We just had to use whatever heads we had lying around.”
Nonetheless, once word got out about the presence of the Bush head, complaints began coming in -- particularly from Republican activists. The controversy sent HBO into spin control and scrambling to redo the scene.
