After a prosthetic head of George W. Bush was pointed out in a beheading scene in "Game of Thrones," HBO has issued an apology, reports Deadline.com.

The presence of the head was noted in the DVD commentary for the season one boxed set by "Game of Thrones" creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, who said the use of the Bush lookalike wasn’t a political statement.

The commentary includes these observations between the two men, the story reports: “The last head on the left is George Bush. George Bush’s head appears in a couple of beheading scenes. It’s not a choice; it’s not a political statement. We just had to use whatever heads we had lying around.”

HBO issued the apology, along with an apology by Benioff and Weiss, after Republican leaders criticized the use of the fake head, the story notes.

"We were deeply dismayed to see this and find it unacceptable, disrespectful and in very bad taste," HBO said in a statement. The network said it will remove the head from future DVD production.

Benioff and Weiss added, "After the scene was already shot, someone pointed out that one of the heads looked like George W. Bush. In the DVD commentary, we mentioned this, though we should not have. We meant no disrespect to the former president and apologize if anything we said or did suggested otherwise."

  1. Oh give me a friggin’ break. THIS is what our republican leaders are concerned about??

  2. Yep. You’ll notice that all of the Rep party’s concerns are more like a tempest in a teapot, rather than anything that really makes a difference. That and removing further regulations on banks and big business, so we can all get poorer while they get richer.

  3. This and making sure insurance doesn’t pay for birth control pills. You know, important stuff.

  4. Sarah, Scott,PLEASE put down the
Kool-Aid!!! It was mentioned in a commentary for the box set. Republican leaders aren’t saying anything about it.
I would never have drawn the conclusion if it hadn’t been mentioned and I don’t really think it looks like “W”. (The hair’s too long and not combed). Stop your whining and find a few more dead people to vote for your candidates this Nov.

  5. If the head resembled Obama, jesse and al would be picketing HBO HQ

  6. Oh please – it’s not as if they stopped the shot, zoomed in and captioned it George W. Bush. It’s a prop with a wig/face turned away from the camera that was on screen for a short amount of time in a fantasy show. Big deal.
Are we all so partisan we can’t just get over that they used what props they had at hand and move on?
BTW – the other head looks a lot like my Grandpa. Maybe I should demand an apology…

  7. Because the left’s hyper-PC ways are always so legitimate.
Imagine the uproar if one of the heads had been Clinton or Obama.
    Riiiight.

  8. After it was released today that one Republican Congressman said that “their party would do nothing to improve the economy until after November”.
How can you not love ’em?
