Simon Cowell Teams Up With Fellow Brit Gordon Ramsay to Bring New Cooking Show to the U.K. -- Might They Then Do a U.S. Version? THR, TVWeek
"'X Factor' creator Simon Cowell's production firm and the company behind Gordon Ramsay's 'Kitchen Nightmares' will co-produce a cooking show for U.K. broadcaster ITV," reports The Hollywood Reporter.
The article continues, "The joint production of Cowell's Syco and Optomen will be called 'Food, Glorious Food!' and air on ITV1. Described on its website as 'the biggest ever search for Britain's best-loved recipe,' it will 'scour the country in search of one very special dish made by an amateur cook.'"
TVWeek asked one veteran TV programming executive whether Cowell and Ramsay might briing this show to the U.S. "Two things, I'd say," The exec said. "First, yes, if it's successful, I'm sure they'd take a look at shopping the format here. But I'm not sure that it's very proprietary, especially given the number of cooking shows on broadcast and cable here in this country."
