Adam Lambert Responds to Reports He’s in Running for ‘Idol’ Judge

Former “American Idol” contestant Adam Lambert is opening up in response to reports that he’s being considered for a job as a judge on the Fox competition show, MTV reports.

As we reported yesterday, Lambert, the season eight runner-up, is the subject of the latest rumors about who will fill the judges’ seats in what is expected to be a reconstructed “Idol” lineup for fall — the show’s 12th season.

While some media reports have indicated Lambert’s reps have been in talks with “Idol” for more than a month, MTV reports that Lambert himself says he hasn’t heard about any talks.

"I’m just hearing about this today as well, and so what a beautiful rumor," Lambert told a British radio station, according to MTV. "Listen, if — and I say ‘if’ with a capital I-F — if they were to approach me and if they were to say, ‘We want you to be a judge on the show,’ I would love that. I would jump at the chance."

Lambert confirmed his interest in the job in a statement he issued Monday, saying: "’Idol’ has an amazing history of introducing great musical talent, and I was very fortunate to have had the ‘Idol’ stage play a big part in my career. IF ‘Idol’ wants to talk to me about Judging, I’d be more than flattered to have that conversation."
